    El Reno Ok. Tornado

I know Deni on facebook and saw those picture's! I feel so bad for Jan and eveyone else! But SO relieved her horses were okay! I wish I lived within reasonable distance, I would be there in a minute to help. We already have friends helping through a local group, and we all donate all we can...

Many questions about foal care and when do to what

Yes rubbing down her legs while holding works for me very well. If you would release her as soon as she stops struggling to get free, then she is rewarded immediately, and little by little she doesn't fight it so much as long as you aren't having to medicate, worm, clean or file a hoof, etc...

Many questions about foal care and when do to what

My vet likes to vaccinate mine at 3 months, and mama needs a float then anyway. My two foals started eating their own grain, soaked grass hay cube bits and alfalfa bits at 1 week. Turn them out with others at 2 to 3 weeks when she is a little more relaxed about the foal. Most of all, I was...

    Bugaboos!

I never say anything for fear of being a *itch, but you all got my favorites, *sale, own son/daughter of, guilding*. Drives me insane. My horse club started a thread about this and it went on for months. No one seems able to spell palomino either! But I kept thinking, am I missing something...

Thank you! We were able to give her a small bath yesterday, she kept laying in mama's pee, and found 2 black hairs in that smidge of red forelock lol!

    Color Test Results, One Surprise

Little Skye's color tests came back Ee/AA/NSB1/NSW1/NTO which makes her a bay based sabino splash tobiano. While before she was born I expected bay since sire and dam are bay, once she was here her only color spots are sorrel. You can see what I mean in this picture, no black what so ever in...

    Trimming feet

Yes, even though all farrier work is the same, the difference is in the weight. I realize your thinking the lessor weight is in conjunction to the lessor size. In fact the entire hoof pumps the flow of blood not just the frog, never forget that. Trim the heels all the way to the bottom of the...

    First Attempt To Harness

Thank you, yes, for the pictures he was getting ansy and dh wasn't helping a lot, so the strap had slipped down a little from where I had pulled it up. This harness has a lot of adjustable options so yes I can get it more snug. I always cringe when putting another hole in leather tho lol.

    Our New Music Spring Clipped

I spent Mother's Day clipping the last two. It's been so hot here! And I have blankets in case we get an unusual snowstorm in June. Music will be two the 27th and I think Susan O did a wonderful job breeding Mandolyn to Mr. It. This guy is all personality, very sweet natured and good with...

    heights at birth/mature height

I seem to draw the exceptions lol. Music was foaled at 311 days gestation, 17.5" cannon 6.5". He will be 2 May 27th. He is already 32.5". His sire is 28.5 and his dam is 32.75". In all other minis I've had they follow the cannon measurement estimates very close with an average gestational...

    heights at birth/mature height

I personally think the estimation charts are for averaging. What I mean is, both of my foals were born WAY overdue with overgrown hooves. Jewel was 20" with 6 3/4 cannon. At almost 3 years she is still 30.50 inches close to her sire's size, dam is 33". Skye, same dam, was 24" at birth and 7...

Chat Board "Nursery" - post pics of foals born with help from this board

AWH! I just realized, I don't think I posted here to plaster more pictures of Skye all over lol. And really, she came with lots of help arriving April 21st. I love all the precious foals here.

    Too Mini Shoes

Lol, took me a minute from my email to realize what you were talking about! Yes they are. I had a large pile and my husband would try to drive by fast if I saw river rock that I wanted to stop and pick out some shapes from lol. I had to leave my pile when we moved across country though...

CMM *Melody foaled a palomino pinto colt on 3/12/14*

I am so happy for you both Lexi! Thank you for sharing your heartbreaking story, I know I not only shed tears and thanked the heavens for my sweet baby, but I learned so much. And yes, we want pictures when your testing is over and you are rested, and of course how you did on your exams lol...
