Hello from Central Kentucky! I hope to be able to make it to a central Indiana show next month! Quite a few excellent shows in the area. If you have any questions, feel free to message me! I do lessons and training as well.

It has been a busy few weeks...not even months yet. But I think we are settled and everyone is back to work!

It's been awhile and quite a bit was going on. It was an adventure but we are finally moved to Kentucky! The horses are loving the pasture and I am working on making the barn more like home. Looking forward to getting back to training soon. There are so many shows and driving events nearby.

Is it possible to get all the loose hair off your shedding mini?

@LostandFound I will have to look at my calender to get exact details, but I think it was more like 3 months between worming and always going back and forth between Fenbendazole and Ivermectin families. I had the same scenario in Arkansas as you do, only both morning and evening were darker...

Is it possible to get all the loose hair off your shedding mini?

This may not answer your question but I accidentally tried a new worming schedule this winter and everyone was completely shed out and in shiny summer coats by April. Including the true minis who usually shed until May! Any horse who came here after Jan/Feb took much longer. They do look funny...

Oh they have a few extra pounds but I like them that way coming out of winter before clipping. They are turned out after they are worked so usually from around 12-2 until 9 or 10 at night. Just typical high metabolism Shetlands. Most of the B minis get 4-5lbs of grain, alfalfa and hay as well...

Only one in those photos, the one on the bottom, Fonzie. The other two of mine, not pictured, are my red Pinto gelding Amigo, and Tomas the jumper. He doesn't drive. I may have one or two more geldings coming soon. He is! Not sure when, have to find out about the move first. But I'm...

    Edelweiss Training Journal

I've been too busy to update for awhile but there is plenty of progress happening! All but two of my breeding horses are sold but that does not mean there are fewer horses here! Between the consignment program and training, my waitlist is about two months out and I have 11 stalls. Only 3 are...

How are you getting your show ring shine?

A good shine starts with a good feeding program, appropriate fat, protein, vitamin and mineral content. Beyond that, I have done the hot oil treatment. I believe the main purpose is to bring color back after clipping and it definitely worked for that! Mainly used it before Nationals. And yes it...

So far so good! I do keep it to a manageable number. Although sometimes I wish I had someone to come drive so they could get seasoning on driving in company. I cannot believe how far this boy has come! This is little Richard. Fonzie got a custom comfyfit bridle and loves it. Wonderful day...

    Edelweiss Training Journal

I forgot to update this! Very shortly after the last post was written, Little Richard found the perfect new driver! He is going to be a trail and carriage horse with possibly some CT's as well. He is also staying here to continue training for at least another month. He has become such a solid...

    Driving help!

My best advice would be to find a trainer, mentor or helpful experienced driver. I know there is quite a driving community in North Carolina. Find someone who can help you either with in person or virtual lessons, but it sounds like hands on will be the most help. It can benefit both of you!

Favourite crosses? What bloodlines do you love the combination of?

It sounds like you are looking for halter style and the good mind for an all around horse. There are quite a few lines that have that. The good mind part is what makes it a little more intricate. That's not the kind of thing you can see on paper, but learn by talking to others and dealing with...

Favourite crosses? What bloodlines do you love the combination of?

Well I would say that first comes deciding what style you want. Each line has different attributes. For example, while some Nighthawks and Billy Idols are very nice I will never have one because of their tendency for low set necks which I do not want for driving. So, are you wanting mainly...
