    Where do we start?!

Welcome to the forum. You ask why a young colt is a bad idea for someone with little experience. You need to have some experience and to be able to take a colt and turn them into an educated horse. It is not easy and requires patience and knowledge. Think of it as two kindergarteners trying...

    Trail Camera

Those "might" be female eastern bluebirds, our male eastern bluebirds are much bluer. I'm not sure though, they could be young ones just getting adult feathers.

    Walking/Hiking in 2023

I'm going to have to give a guess as to my time. About 2 hours for Peanut, we went to a show and walked a lot. 30 minutes for Oatie and about 1 hour for Cappy. This would be for the past 2 weeks. I forget what I walked the first two weeks of the month, lol.

    Wheee! Driving hours 2023

That's a nice pony! Hackney's were always my dream ponies. My favorite classes to watch at the Fair and bigger shows were the hackney classes.

    Wheee! Driving hours 2023

He did great! He's all recovered, knock on wood. He was very comfortable in the bridle which was a worry of mine as he's always had a bit of a fussy mouth. I even trotted him a little. I drove him again today but only walked, he had just had his feet trimmed and I felt like taking it easy...

    liver help, please!

About the GGT going up, I think my vet told me that there is a delay in the time from when the initial injury/insult to the liver and when the level actually starts to rise. I think I'm trying and failing to say there is a delayed reaction :). When my pony was sick, one of his levels didn't...

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Did they check for a sinus infection in Maggie? When my mini had a bad tooth he had a recurrent sinus infection that required a catheter placed into the sinus so it could be flushed several times a day. He had a horrendous smelling drainage from his nose with the infection. My fingers are...

    Billy

Billy is well on his way to being svelte! I think it's so neat you can weigh on the elevator. I have to use the tape and it's aways a guesstimate. Enjoyed the pics!

    Billy

Good to hear he is better! Can I ask what supplement you use?

    Billy

The odor may be feed packing in the area. Is he chewing ok? No temp? Dental issues are such a pain in the rear.

    Plume

I might be wrong but I think Marsha had one. I've seen them for sale if you don't want to bother making one, draft horse supply places usually have them. I think there is a metal plate on the bottom and somehow it attaches, kind of like a bridle nameplate. Check out IVC Carriage, I just...

    Hauling my miniature horse

If you are going to put your mini in the front of the trailer where human access doors are, make sure to install a latch on the outside of the trailer door so they can't fiddle with the door and open it in transit. A hasp lock with a snap will do fine. Just bolt it on. That's my PSA of the day :D

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Yes, add hay pellets like LostandFound suggested. And soak them to a mush. Timothy pellets will do just fine. I'm pretty sure Purina Pony and Mini is a complete feed and what you want to add is plain old hay (pellets). You might want to ask the vet about packing the socket with dental...

    Billy

Any stress might cause a fluctuation in his blood sugar and that might cause an episode, but I would think that would be a rarity. Are his feet warmer than usual or does he have a digital pulse? Does he have a temp? Any funky smell coming from mouth or nostrils that would indicate an...
