Welcome! There are many here that have vans made over to haul their minis. A quick search will pull up several threads here on the forum.

You ought to be able to get a mini sized nylon one fairly cheap ($20 to $30). Of course, there are expensive ones out there, too.

I would guess most people do use a training surcingle to teach ground driving. I do, it makes it easier for me to handle the reins. But some people just use a halter and two long lines. Some people use part of a driving harness.
