    Singletree help

In your picture there is a piece welded to the cart that looks to have a removable pin through a hole. That looks like the attachment point for a singletree to me, similar to the one on Kelly's Aerocrown. If it's just one piece of metal it won't work with the style of singletree you have...

    Walking/Hiking in 2023

Feb 5th Took DJ and Jaci for a short walk together. I was going to just walk Jaci, but DJ came running over whinnying for the first time ever when I haltered Jaci. Only walked about 1/10th of a mile, I let them graze longer than we walked. DJ was a solid citizen, Jaci did pretty good.

    Winter water

One word of caution, when using heaters that are placed in the water especially, make sure they are in good working order and that your horses are actually drinking after placement. Some animals are extremely sensitive to stray current. I'm sure I'm not saying this right, but when you place...

    Tools for ground driving?

You ought to be able to get a mini sized nylon one fairly cheap ($20 to $30). Of course, there are expensive ones out there, too.

    Tools for ground driving?

I would guess most people do use a training surcingle to teach ground driving. I do, it makes it easier for me to handle the reins. But some people just use a halter and two long lines. Some people use part of a driving harness.

thatcrazyhorsechick to get a better idea of gaits, you may want to watch some videos of big horses. Much easier to tell the difference on a non fuzzy non rolly polly horse with long legs! LOL

Walking/Hiking with our minis and ponies - Mile Tracker!

Got a nice morning stroll with Jaci in between rain showers. Around the paddock, barn, down the fence line. Around piles of junk, screenings, between equipment, up and down banks, up and down a wood ramp to a building. Even went across it where she had to step up and down. I was wearing a...

    Weed Free Feed

My horses all get large alfalfa/bermuda pellets and soaked beet pulp this time of year. My oldest, that can't eat hay anymore, gets them soaked and the soaked beet pulp year round. I've had better luck with the alfalfa/bermuda than straight alfalfa pellets. Just thought I'd mention all this...

    Adventures!

Yes to bear spray! Or even wasp and hornet spray. The trick is to remember to shake it up first. But yeah, everything happens so fast. Better practice first.

    Adventures!

Mace would work best if you could intercept the dog before it got to your horse. If the wind is blowing against you, you can't use it. And it would be a challenge to use it if the ruckus has already started. A whip or a stick might be better in some situations. I know someone that walked(no...
