    Age *teeth photos

I'm not great at aging, but her incisors have pretty decent length and slope to them, and Galvaney's Groove looks to be about halfway or more down the corner incisor, so best guess would be mid teens or maybe a little older.

    Billy

How tall is Billy, again? I have several 300# and over, but I also have mostly 35-38" minis, so they are going to weigh more than the 32-34" minis.

And, donkeys are measured to top of withers regardless of what division they are in.

    My donkey friends

From the American Donkey and Mule Society: The types of donkeys are labeled by their sizes; 36" and under, Miniature Mediterranean, 36.01-48", Standard, 48.01" to 54" (jennets) or 56"; (jacks), Large Standard, and 54/56" and over, Mammoth Stock. As its written it's a little hard to read...

Pony, over 38" measured to the last hair of the mane (as minis are measured) is considered pony.

    Billy

Maybe you could find someone to cut your 80 acres for hay, probably on shares (so you keep half or so, they get half); you'd have hay and your 80 acres would be used. [If they are willing, perhaps give them a little bigger share, if they will stack it in the hay barn for you.] Due diligence...

    My donkey friends

My mini donkey wears a #200 adjustable halter from Chimacum, she might have fit a 100, but I bought during winter while she was really fuzzy. [The white mare is a 33.5" chunky mini, she is also wearing a #200 halter, it's a bit big when she is not in winter fluffies.] I think Tilly, the...

    Miniature Steer

Good to know. The few I've seen have been friendly, but perhaps worked with a lot or exception to "rule".

    Miniature Steer

Doesn't sounds "miniature" to me, but perhaps just old lines when they were smaller than now. Our red Angus are 1100-1300# full grown (bulls heavier, and steers don't stay long enough to get heavier, so I don't know where they might top out). If you have your mind set on a miniature cow, you...

    Mini mare

They say a lopsided belly is often a sign of pregnancy, but with her markings that appearance could be misleading. She's still fluffy enough that it is hard to tell if she is heavy all over or just her belly. When you get a chance to lay your hands on her, feel her spine, hips and ribs...

    My donkey friends

Not sure I've heard to not feed beet pulp to donkeys, only reason I can think of is that they probably don't need the extra calories. Well, soaked it should be safe, but being most are very easy keepers, they probably don't need more than a taste of it.

    My donkey friends

They are incredibly strong, probably stronger than horses of similar size. They definitely think about things before trying them, so sometimes take more time than horses to do the same task, at least the first time, while they decide if it's safe to do.

    Living Alone With Minis

Whether or not a mini (or any horse) can be on pasture part-time or full-time is dependent on the mini, the pasture and the climate. If the horses you are getting are used to pasture, they can probably continue with pasture. If the horses you are getting haven't been on pasture, if there is...

    So sorry for your loss. I did not expect to see this update this morning. {{{HUGS}}}

Praying you get that 10 more years you desire. Here's hoping your visit perks him up. 27 years is pretty impressive, but we definitely always want more time.

Some can be very stoic, and those signs we expect to see are very subtle or not there. Prayers for speedy recovery.

    2023 crafting for all...

The kit had a cotton strap that you covered with fabric and made a second layer of fabric and batting, then sewed them together for a layered look strap with a cotton web strap base.

I Need Help in Decision About Keeping My Mini

I'd start with testing his hormones again, but do not feel guilty, if he does indeed need to return to the rescue to find a better fit for him. Minis can be very late dropping their testes, unfortunately, 3 years old is very common, and it's not unheard of for some to wait until 4-5 years old...

My mini jenny is registered, Squires Montana Chantilly Lace; I call her Tilly (an old lady name fits her, and she's not old ;) ).

    My donkey friends

Working with a donkey, it definitely comes down to their decision to work with you, if they feel like it. I've had Tilly since she was a weanling, definitely different than working with a horse, but she is actually better behaved than half my horses. They usually won't do anything they...
