  1. Walt's Fault

    Florida team drivers.

Looking for anyone in Florida or even Southern Georgia that drives mini teams. Looking for team cart, basic information and would be willing to pay for some training (training would be for me). Goal to to drive my mini pony/donkey team. I'm retired so I have plenty of time.

    Pony/ Donkey driving team

My boys get along so well that I think this will work. I have a small John Deere tractor that I am going to use as a liner "hot walker" to see how their cadence is. I am looking at small team carts now. I have a single cart that I have never used but hate to get rid of it.

    Pony/ Donkey driving team

Their pace did concern me because when I walk the separately the pony is definitely much faster but together but Yazhi definitely slows way down and Butterscotch does pick up the pace but very slightly. Since neither has ever driven I figured do both together so the don't know any other way.

    Pony/ Donkey driving team

My 2 year old mini horse is 30 inches and my 9 year old mini donkey is 29 inches. Has anyone had a pony/donkey team? They play together all the time and are inseparable. The donkey was feral 4 months ago when we got him and is the most calm, affectionate and eager to learn jack I have ever dealt...

    Yázhí and Butterscotch

This is Yázhí, our 22 month old, 7.5hh stallion. He joined our family last August and was not in the best condition. Over the last 11 months he has become so much a part of our life that we could not imagine life without him. He has a wonderful Vet and Farrier and they usually stay long after...

    Recommendations for Pony Boots

My ferrier had brought me 3 different boots to try and none of them seemed to fit correctly even though they were the correct size. One had such a hard sole he would slip on the hardwood floor. I got 2 pairs from Build-A-Bear because a friend had jokingly suggested it and they fit great. We have...

    Cart shafts

Thank you! The harness and cart are a matched pair. I'm just missing the quick attach brackets. The harness has straps that were different the 2 standard shaft hoop style setup.

    Cart shafts

So with the help of Dragon Hill I found the missing parts but nothing about how to attach them to the harness. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything else.

    Cart shafts

Thanks! I'll start looking at quick attach.

    Cart shafts

I need help identifying my cart and shafts. I also have a question about attaching the saddle to the shafts because I think the overgirth is integrated into the shaft loops. I attached pictures of the shaft without the saddle strap "loop" and with. There are also pictures of the strap next to...

What do you feed you're minis?

It depends on your pony and region. My 30" get about 4 lbs of T&A twice a day, he won't eat the thick stalks so about 1/2 is wasted. He gets a feed ball once a day with 1 cup of alfalfa pellets to play with and snack. Twice a day I let him graze for about an hour on jumbo winter rye that I...

    Keeping pony safe from Coyotes

I absolutely agree with a donkey! I try to keep an even number together. Decades with the big ponies we noticed that with an odd number there was usually an odd pony out.

    Dress up!

    He loves the attention!

    Keeping pony safe from Coyotes

We have several coyote dens near us and they are caught on camera almost nightly. We have chickens in a fully enclosed area and our mini and guard dog. They are not afraid of lights, noise or people. We do have enough easy prey like mice, squarels, opossum so they have not gone near the chickens...

    My first mini!

Thank you! This is what I'm used too. I used to stand on a stool to reach, now I need to sit on a stool. He was 17.5HH,

    My first mini!

I would like to introduce Yázhí, my soon to be 1 (Aug 16th) 7.5 hand stallion. My wife and I adopted him from less then ideal conditions 2 days ago and he is just amazing. I have 40 plus years with the full size versions but I am new to the subcompact models. I am planning on training him to...
