New horse owners / medical plans

Yes it includes health certs whenever I need them. Also the $1400 is what was billed but I had $0 out of pocket. I pay about $1300 a year and it covers all 3, and covers almost everything. My point was that many owners, especially new ones don't know that Wellness plans exist and if you only...

New horse owners / medical plans

I agree it gets expensive for more then a few but most owners have only 1 or 2. We do have a friend with somewhere around 20 and he has a "group plan" that covers any of the horses for only the very basic like deworming and major medical so it is more affordable. We might be adopting a 2000lb...

New horse owners / medical plans

How many have their horses on some sort of insurance plan? I have been surprised by how many long time horse owners I talk to did not even know the option existed. We have our miniature horse, miniature donkey and 16hhTB on a Wellness Plan with our Vet. The first year is a little bit more...

    Trailering a cart

On my small trailer I had a hitch receiver bolted to the bottom of the trailer and a slip in cargo rack. Both were purchased from Harbor Freight. I don't have any pictures of it installed but here are the items. I used a cargo strap to hold it down and cut pool noodles to protect the shafts.

    Equine therapy

Have you ever thought about how much horses change out lives? 4 years ago I had several small strokes, lost a lot of memories, the ability to process information or figure out how to do simple things and my sense of smell. I grew up around horses, cleaning stalls, grooming and riding but never...

    Shaft loop question.

They can be adapted to any saddle/girth with very little modification. Once I get everything together I will post detailed pictures.

    Shaft loop question.

Thanks but I finally found them. The other issue was the rollers are supposed to be on the bottom of the shaft.

    Donkey Question

Thank you! They do keep me busy, out of trouble, not so much! We resuced our dog Nikita over 11 years ago and although the others have been in the last 2 years we could not imagine life without them!

    Donkey Question

The goat is a female but she likes to stand under the TB when he is pees. I lost my sense of smell years ago so it doesn't matter to me!

    Donkey Question

We got our mini horse when he was 9 months old then we got an 8 year old feral mini donkey (both 30 inches) and after 30 minutes they were fine together. There were a few bite marks the first month but nothing serious. They both play rough but they have several footballs and other toys. They...

    All the pieces!

They have a little adjustment with the flexible wire in the back of the blinder. It was off his eyes but not by much. I was just happy that he stood there for almost an hour while I was punching holes and adjusting what I could. One small hoof step at a time!

    All the pieces!

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped identify what I needed for Yazhi's harness! It is old, well worn and needs some holes punched here and there so it fits properly but he did wonderful for his first time being tacked up! We did a short walk around the driveway and he was perfect. Will...

    Shaft loop question.

I might have asked before but after a year I still can't find any information. My cart has 47" shafts, 24" wide and 24" from the ground. It has rollers where the loops would go. And ideas?

    New friend!

We love being semi self-sufficient and we have been able to provide the neighborhood families with entertainment, education and food during the pandemic. Many people do not realize the emotional uplifting horses of any size can bring!

    New friend!

We have a very big aquaponics setup with tilapia from several pounds to hatchling. We grow over 40 different food items. We blame it on "Living with the Land" in EPCOT ( one of our favorite rides)so it is Wall Disney's fault.

    New friend!

The goat's name is Lola. I think this qualifies as a zoo! We have a dog, pig, 8 hens, goat, mini donkey, mini horse, big horse, 700+ fish and 3 daughters!

    New friend!

We resuced a 9yo thoroughbred gelding that we named River. He was never able to get along with others his size but always stayed with the miniatures. He came with a 3 month old female goat and the two are inseparable! Our 2 minis, Yazhi and Butterscotch welcomed them with lots of love and...

    Pony/ Donkey driving team

As of yesterday we rescued Yazhi 1 year ago and he has come a long way! Butterscotch has been here just over 4 months and his ears, tail and eyes tell you exactly how he is feeling. He has gone from being feral for over 8 years to coming and putting his head up for his halter, following me...
