Maiden mare confirmed bred at 3 weeks!

This early you do not need to add feed. Keeping them on a quality and balanced diet should be sufficient. Make sure they are off all fescue though!

First mini pregnancy -- how close are we?

Oh yeah! It’s wax AKA dried leaking milk. She should be very close now. Sorry for being MIA! I’ve checked in just been super busy and forgotten to respond.

    Maiden mare

Might need to get a culture done.

    Old wives tale

My bred and my unbred mares do both. I have not seen any correlation.

    concerned about hoof

I agree. First step is get x-rays...and honestly the sooner the better. Earlier intervention is definitely going to be the best option and hopefully limits any other damage.

    Has the baby dropped?

Congratulations! Glad you were on top of things with the retained placenta! Cute baby! You should post her in some of the equine genetics groups! She doesn't have the dilution that dun presents with but those stripes are definitely interesting. I am sure they would find it fascinating!

Oh yeah, she looks very serious now!

    Has the baby dropped?

Can you stall her or at least restrict her to an area where you can see her constantly overnight? Ph is really my go-to but I know you cant do it with her. How soft is her tail head? The muscle tone should be very soft there. You can also check her lady parts. When she is close, they will be...

    Has the baby dropped?

That udder is starting to get serious. I would be watching her closely now, especially unable to ph test (which I can definitely understand).

    Has the baby dropped?

If you are willing to test ph, it is a HUGE help. Unfortunately many if not most minis do not wax so not something that can really be counted on. Any new udder picture? The one from Sunday is definitely showing progress!

    Has the baby dropped?

Are you testing ph? Teats are still pointing in and she still has a pretty deep crease but that can change fast.

    Whats going on here?!?!?

Has she been rubbing? Sometimes that can cause this. Has it gone down at all?

    Baby Girl

Can you feed her more frequently? Foals should be drinking more frequently, Did she have an IgG done?

    Showing geldings

@Edelweiss, love your boys! I thought the pinto looked familiar! I have bought two horses from them.

First mini pregnancy -- how close are we?

I am not seeing much of an udder yet. However, that does not always mean anything. I would still guess she has a while left. Can you get a picture from under and one from directly in front of her udder? It is easier to judge the size better.

Who all is expecting foals in 2023?

Thank you @Kelly! I’m pretty partial. @Edelweiss, that looks like an awesome cross!
