    Aggie Update

Fortunately that was not necessary. The tooth practically fell out first try with forceps. Apparently it was one of the worst looking and smelling teeth the vet had ever seen. He didn't even want to risk saving it for me to see, he took a picture and immediately discarded it. Sinuses flushed on...

    Aggie Update

I call her my 5 grand pony. That's how much roughly I've spent on her in vet bills. Another 1.5k has gone to Winston and his previous dental problems with his dwarf underbite.

    Aggie Update

Hello Everyone, After a trip to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital and several thousands of dollars in bills later, we found Aggie's problem. She had an infected tooth. They found it on CT scan and the infection had spread to almost all of her head sinuses. The tooth was removed, and after a long...

    Anyone from Idaho?

Thank you. I imagine it would be a bit of a shock for them at first but I think they'd love the cold.

    Anyone from Idaho?

Aggie especially would love the cold. In the wintertime here she's always feisty and full of energy. The heat aggravates her asthma and some days she doesn't want to do anything. I feel horrible watching her go through that. Thank you for the advice!

    Anyone from Idaho?

Hello everyone, I have been wanting to leave California for some time, but now I have my 2 minis to think of for when/if I move. Is there anyone here on the forum who has advice on keeping minis in Idaho, what part of the state they're in and how they handle the colder winters? I have lived in...

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Vet is going to debride Aggie's tooth socket and re pack it with dental packing on Wednesday. I am no longer in town with my minis because of the fire academy, so I am relying on word of mouth from my folks and friends watching the minis. On the plus side I heard some encouraging news from a...

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Thank you. Yes they did but the tooth appeared to be causing it. Vet is working on a game plan.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Well folks Aggie's doing okay weight wise but her nose hasn't stopped showing gunk and it still smells. Vet is contacting the specialist who removed Aggie's tooth because "that's not normal." Now I'm worried all over again. Next step is going to be a bronchial alveolar lavage.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

You guys are the best. Aggie only needs all pellets for another 4-5 days. Vet wants to ensure the socket seals up without hay poking into it. Thank you everyone. Aggie's breathing has gotten really bad with the heat. Vet next wants to do a Bronchiolalveolar Lavage to check her lungs.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Thank you. I felt horrible coming back from out of town and seeing her weight loss. I had friends feeding her and had gave her instructions. Hopefully I can get her weight back.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Aggie's lost some weight so I've added one extra scoop of hay pellets. I'm wondering if in addition to her 2 servings she gets if I should add a smaller serving around lunch time.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

She is. Just talked with the vet. She says Aggie could have Timothy hay pellets. I flush her socket twice a day with a dosing syringe (Also use warm water to lessen discomfort).

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

The vet had just pulled the dental packing 2 days prior when her nose started to stink unfortunately.

    Temporary pellet diet for mini

Hey everyone, My vet's favorite customer Aggie has a new infection. Her socket apparently didn't heal properly and it has become infected and is possibly spreading to her sinuses. Vet came out and believes there's hay getting caught in her socket causing infection. While it looks infected vet...
