Also great advice when you build a barn! We didn't put a hydrant in so we have to hook two hoses together in the summer (just makes it to the barn door) and in the winter we haul jugs of water out. :p

@Edelweiss do you know if Springtime has a "sample size" of the garlic that we could try before we buy a huge tub? Or could you just use garlic powder from the store? And do you have to soak it before you feed it to your minis?

Has anyone tried vinegar? My coach says she gives some of her horses apple cider vinegar in the summer.

Our minis don't like the spraying sound/sensation and run away. We do have flymasks, but Magic is a very shy horse, (to me at least) and is extremely ear shy. I know my coach swears by the polyurethane (?) fly sprays, but I hate putting chemicals on anything, especially if it just soaks in...

Anything could be toxic if you have them enough! LOL

Has anybody tried feeding a dried garlic to their horses for bug protection? We got a supplements catalog in the mail and they sold dried garlic....has anybody had any luck with it? Kinda want to try it (our minis hate fly spray), but the smallest quantity is a 5lb bucket. :confused: Thanks!

March 16th .1 mi for Stormy, .3 for Magic, and .35 for Squirt. Mom took them out, while I lunged. :)

I want to clip one of our minis too, but I don't have any blankets if it does go cold again....(which wouldn't surprise me!) Probably will wait until April. :confused:

Finally turned the corner to spring here in MI, I think.....birds are starting to come back in tenfold! Minis are starting to shed and getting itchy. Ground is thawing = muddy, gooshy footing. Highs of 60F and lows of 30F, which is better than in the single digits!
