    Hi from new member

Marsha I think blinders are required in breed shows (AMHA AMHR) but are not required in ADS (American Driving Society) recognized shows. They do still require a bit, so no bit less bridles. because driving is so traditional, one may get some criticism from others when driving open. I understand...

    Hi from new member

I thought I had replied to this, but I guess not. Sorry! I like driving both of my boys open bridles. We do a lot of driving on the roads, so I like them to see what’s coming from behind us. I originally trained them in traditional blinkered bridles, but switched over a bunch of years back. I’m...

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

Very cool, Marsha! In the first photo, is that leather sheath attached to the saddle? What breed show people call a thimble? Used in place of breeching to hold the cart back.

I would like to see how your quick hitch is set up. I'm always interested in learning something new.

I’m sorry too. Hopefully there is someone out there that will love and appreciate Buckly for who he is. Then you can find the perfect horse for you. As long as he finds a good home, you have nothing to feel bad about. You tried everything, but you just can’t force them to do something they can’t...

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

I think I am constantly fiddling with adjustments! This pole fits everything perfectly, and I really had minimal tweaking to get the boys comfy. It really is more than double the fun!

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

No, it wouldn’t work. On a pair the pole is attached to the front of the collar. On a single, the shafts are not attached and would slide through the shaft holders (tug loops) if the breeching wasn’t attached to the shafts. . If you could see it in person, it really isn’t hard to understand, but...

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

Yes. When you stop, The pole continues forward. This causes the yoke strap (which connects the collar to the yoke on the pole) to pull the collars forward, off the chest, which causes the ring on the martingale to move forward, tightening the holdbacks on the breeching so the butt takes the...

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

On a pairs vehicle, there are no shafts. One pole between the two horses. You couldn’t attach the outside breeching to the pole.

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

This photo shows the holdbacks from the breeching down to the ring on the martingale just behind his front legs. Not a great photo, but it shows the attachment the best I have right now. This was when I first got this harness, and making adjustments.

    Pairs holdbacks (for Cayuse)

This photo shows my Camptown freedom collars with the holdbacks from breeching ring to ring on collar. Breeching is probably a bit too high on this photo.

    Driving Hours 2018

Thank you! They are not the same size or build, and their colors sure as heck don’t match, but they love going out together and usually are matching strides. I really enjoy driving them together. The holdbacks on a pair do not connect to the pole. On this harness, the holdbacks have clips on...

    Driving Hours 2018

Woohoo! Today I had the time and the helpers to take the boys out as a pair with my new team pole for my Mullet buggy. It took a little time to get everything adjusted, but the boys stepped off smartly and drove really well together. I’m one really proud mom! Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy 55 mins

    Hi from new member

Welcome! Beautiful horses. I’m in suburban Chicago, so not anywhere near you. ? I have a hyper bike. Lots of fun! My go to ride when I take my older guy out.

    Little more cart help, please!

Your shafts are too far forward. The end of the shaft should be at the point of the shoulder. See that slight bend in the shaft (2nd photo)? That is where your tug loops (shaft holders) should rest. That will put your foot mans loops further back, hopefully within reach of your breeching...
