    Hiking with Minis and Ponies

Great! I will post this on the main miniature horse forum as well. My ponies are actually Shetland ponies, Zorro is 40" tall and Oliver will most likely be that tall as well, but maybe it's alright for me to share in the miniature horse forum rather the Shetland? And walks down the road or in...

    Too Many To Drive

Are they big enough for a little girl to ride? I'm not sure how big of a pony she wants.

    Too Many To Drive

I have a gal that is looking for a good pony for her granddaughter. Do you have something that would fit the bill? She is here in Montana near me :)

    Hiking with Minis and Ponies

I'm not sure which forum would be the most appropriate for this subject. I love tracking my time and miles driving but haven't been driving much at all this year. Mostly I've been walking and hiking with my two boys. We have really put the miles down, having walked 92 miles since January...

    2021 Time to Drive!

WOW! I haven't been here for awhile. Life has been so crazy. I truly hate to feel busy, especially when I feel like I'm not accomplishing ANYTHING. I received my ribbon. Thank you thank you! It's a very pretty one. And to get all caught up: Feb 24 - 45 minutes ground driving Feb 26 - 60...

Can you get kicked driving a Hyperbike?

That is amazing!! I think it means you have great awareness around them :) I trimmed miniature horse and big horse feet for many years professionally and found that the minis tend to paw and climb on me while the big horses tended to kick. (Of course there were some minis that had learned self...

Can you get kicked driving a Hyperbike?

My bike shafts were too long for my 41" pony ( I had the normal size C shafts) and that meant that there was about 26" between Zorro's butt and the seat! So the ONE time he kicked out in joy, when cantering along the road, he nearly kicked me right in the face. I contacted Bob to get a short set...

    2021 Time to Drive!

Phew! I haven't had the chance to come here and update my driving minutes for awhile! I think my last post was for Jan 9th... I didn't get out as much as I had hoped because we had some of the most INSANE wind storms ever in January but I did manage to get out a little bit! Jan 13th: ground...

    Contraption

This is a dorsal hitch style "cart" but absolutely would not balance! It is amazing what people do to their ponies isn't it?

    Recommendations for Pony Boots

If you want to drive your Shetland then the build a bear boots will not hold up. The Cavallo miniature horse boots don't hold up well under the strain of gravel and pavement either. The best boots I have used (and I've used all the boots that come in the mini and small pony sizes!) are the...

    Long-lining book recommendations?

I have looked at that one but felt it was a bit above my head :) I like books that spell things out in more laymen's language, especially when I am learning something new!

    Long-lining book recommendations?

Long lining books: This one was recommended to me when I asked about this on a long lining group I am part of on Facebook: https://www.amazon.com/Long-Reining-Double-Dan-Partnership/dp/1570767408/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=long+lining+a+horse&qid=1611332691&sr=8-1 And this one! I really love...

    Grooming time 2021

YES! And what I did was offer a treat when I unbridled. When the pony opened his mouth to get the treat the bit dropped out. Please be super careful that the bit is not clinking his teeth as this is typically what causes them to not like to have the bridle taken off. As for the tail clamping...

    Grooming time 2021

My ponies learn to put their own halters on right away. I don't like a hard to catch pony or one that I have to wrestle into the halter. I did just as described above with cookies ;) I do the same with bridling. @MajorClementine actually what your horse is doing can be very helpful with...

    2021 Time to Drive!

Jan 7th: Ground drove Zorro for 3 miles - 60 minutes. It was a beautiful wintery day with the snow falling 🤗 Jan 8th: Drove Zorro in the sled for 3 miles - 60 minutes. It was a bright sun shiny day with not quite enough snow for the sled but I couldn't resist! Jan 9th: Drove Zorro in the bike...

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

Thank you for doing that @MajorClementine ! It's so fun to see the hours all added up like that. Even though Zorro and I took off from October to December we still managed to rack up some time 🤗 I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to do this!

    2021 Time to Drive!

Jan 3rd: Ground drove Zorro 1 mile in 20 minutes! Jan 5th: Ground drove Zorro 1 mile in 20 minutes then hitched to the bike and we drove for 3 more miles in an hour and a forty minutes for a total of 2 hours today :)

    2021 Time to Drive!

Jan 1st: I ground drove Zorro for 20 minutes while baby Oliver galavanted all around us on the pasture track. We drove 1 mile. Jan 2nd: We started on the pasture track so the baby could come with us. Then I put him away and ground drove Zorro out on the road. We drove for 60 minutes and went 3...

    Critique my setup?

Oh boy! Balancing the Hyperbike is a lifetime achievement 😁 I am STILL working on mine and I've had it for 3 years. And you can absolutely cut a few inches off the shafts at the horse end. I ended up cutting the gig end of my Hyperbike shafts off as they caused me so many issues. I totally...

Cart Decisions: Hyperbike or Kingston EZ?

Bob Graham sells them out of Oregon. I believe I paid about $1800 with shipping for my bike 2 years ago :) HyperBike
