    Preggers or Fat????

Yes, there are studs at the rescue, but the rescue says they didn't get to her - she doesn't think. :) I don't know how long she was at the rescue. I must be brain-deprived; I meant two DEFLATED little balloons. I'll go back and edit.

    Preggers or Fat????

This is Petunia who we have had since November 2019. She was huge when we got her. She's on a straight Bermuda diet, and she really doesn't eat that much! She's gained about an inch a month. We had our vet do a blood pregnancy test. It came back positive, but the vet said the timing wasn't right...

    Udder & milk testing

Yep, it was ALWAYS hard to get milk out of her. When the PH started to lower, it went down about a tenth per day. It stayed at 6.0 for two days before Sterling was born. We tested our neighbor's mare who supposedly wasn't due til June/July. It was 7.4. Two weeks later, my neighbor went on a...

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

The vet called him a silver dapple. He is changing though to a light beige. His tail is light, and it looks like he has four white stockings, but who knows?

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

Sorry, Taz, yes he's ok. The vet said that when he was first born. He and Sally are let out into a side paddock for running around time every evening.

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

They are stalled for the better part of the day in a 12 X 24 ft which has lots of air flow. The vet doesn't want Sterling running around much yet. I ordered two foal fly masks from horse.com, but I haven't gotten them yet. Pretty sure it won't fit the baby, but I have a foal size that works...

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

Of course I have more pictures of Sterling!. I'm thinking of changing his name to Tarnish, or just changing the spelling to the Scottish town, Stirling, which we visited last year. This guy is so sweet! He comes right up to us, lets us pet him all over, even comes when we call him. We are so...

    Advise please on older broodmare

Dang, she looks dropped to me! I am no expert, but she LOOKS DROPPED! We had a hard time getting any milk out of Sally right up to the birth. My husband had better luck than I did. Are you seeing sloppy poops yet? Sally had that about two or three days before foaling. She also was very restless...

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

Nope, don't own a breakaway halter. So, no fly spray around her eyes? And Taz, have you been able to get a drop of milk out of Tilly? I can't wait to see her baby!

How do you handle flies on a new mama?

Poor Sally is having a terrible time with flies with her Appy eyes. Sterling, her colt, is three weeks old. Is it safe to spray Sally with fly spray? I have a fly mask on order for both of them. Is it safe to put a fly mask on a foal?

    My Mare is Possibly Pregnant.

We used two baby monitors, and they worked great!!! My husband and I took turns watching her, which was a good thing. Sally's foaling took less than five minutes, and hubby had to break the sac. This all happened before I could get my boots on and get out there! Blessings for a healthy baby!

    Ready Now?

Sally is the best mom (that I know of)! Now the little guy is allowed to come over and visit with us all the time. He LOVES attention, and we can touch and scratch him all over his body. I can't believe we have had this little blessing for two weeks. These two weeks sure went a lot faster!

It is all going to be worth it! A little mini from the rescue where I got Sally went to Texas. This morning, there was a beautiful little paint foal out with her in a storm! I can't wait to see what Tilly gives you!
