    Toxic horse feed

This tragedy is occurring the last few days in Oklahoma. I cannot even imagine...

    Scratches

That clover doesn't grow here. Could some have been in his hay? I have no idea about that as one batch of bales I got from a hay broker. Billy has four white feet. Don't horses drive you crazy sometimes?

    Scratches

I was able to soak the scabs off tonight and it is looking really good. Another day or two and he can wear boots again.

    Scratches

There is no clover here. It must just be a weird white foot thing. The last horse I dealt with has been gone more than 10 years, so maybe it is a soil thing. I cannot pout his boots on until it heals. He is doing great and ready for walks and short drives. But we'll have to wait for boots.

    Skins issues....

That must be why keeping them in the shade is helpful.

    Walking/Hiking with your minis 2024

Wow, he is coming along well to go for such a nice walk.

    Scratches

I am washing the area to try to keep the scabs loose. It must be very painful, as he does not like it. I believe the fungal cream is working. You're right, it is a slow process to heal. How weird to get fungus when everything is bone dry. Also clipped his fetlocks to make sure his feet stay...

    Gardening

Our war against nematodes as escalated. We are using mineral tubs on top of the tires. Raised beds on raised beds! This bad nematode is a round worm. They can climb a little but we doubt they can make it up into the tubs. I've already planted lettuce, kale, and beets and they are already...

    Skins issues....

Here is a formula my vet came up with and it is effective. 1 cup Skin So Soft, 2 cups white vinegar, 1/3 cup water, 1 T citronella oil or eucalyptus. I always used citronella. Shake in a spray bottle and spritz it on the areas. You can spray some on a brush and use it to groom all over. I had...

    Scratches

I'm using a cream from a dermatologist called Ketoconazole. This will be the third day. This morning the area looked much better, so I believe this is the correct treatment--it is scratches and not an injury. Hopefully it will be cleared up in a day or two. Checked his other feet today with...

    Scratches

He was not lame on that foot. This happened to quickly, just within a day or two as I look at his feet every time I groom. I think I will call for a vet appointment.

    Scratches

Billy has this wound-thing under the fetlock of one hind foot. When I first saw it last week I thought "scratches". Then I wondered if he caught it on the fence somehow. First I washed it with Selsun Blue. Next day I did peroxide. Then I tried silver spray. It's not getting better. So now...

My peach jam got a blue at the Fair! Apples also got a blue. I made a cake using my neighbor's zucchini and it got Champion. DEElish!

    Billy

Farrier out today. I showed him the area I thought was an abscess and he could see no sign of one. He checked all his feet to see if there were swellings or anything abnormal. He said all his feet looked good. So, I will just continue with his diet. I have two more bales of the low-sugar...

    2024 Hours Driven

I'm glad the weather is good for driving where you are. It's too hot here, except for very early in the morning. Have to be home by 9 a.m. I hope Billy will be able to go for a short drive soon. He is galloping now when turned out for a few minutes.

    Driving Discussion 2024

Nice to find a bit. Sounds as though he is coming along well if you are feeling more confident with him. He's so handsome.

Just enough peaches this year off the espaliered dwarf peach tree to make a batch of jam.

    Billy

Yes. They are $32 a bag. This is okay for me since I only have one horse. It is 50 lbs; not sure how long it will last. I called around today to see if any stores a little closer can get it quicker, but no luck. I did not know it is a Purina product.

    Billy

He seems fine. My sister came to look and she was surprised there was no obvious exit area. Just kind of a smooth place. The other hind foot has a suspicious spot on it; just have to watch it. I ordered some of that Triple Crown timothy cube. No tractor supply or atwoods near me has it on...
