    Thoughts please

Sounds like you know what you're doing and doing great! Hang in there.

    Thoughts please

It looks like she could be elongating in that picture but I'm having a hard time seeing it well, could you use your flash next time? It is possible for them to show in season after being bred or again closer to foaling, some even the whole time they're in foal. Do you have a camera on both of...

    Mare or Stallion?

I don't have a preference mare. stallion or gelding, it's all about who they are to me. I am going to stick up for mares though, I've never had one that was a problem. They have all been wonderful, I think a lot of it is how you treat them. I had an instructor many many years ago who would only...

    Mare or Stallion?

I knew one years ago. She was impossible to work with when she was in season but very talented and great to work with when she wasn't. Spaying solved the coming into season problem and she had a great show career.

    Barn cameras?

I don't have security cameras up, can't help you there but it's a great idea. Glad no one was hurt!! I know there are some using them for foal watch who can make some suggestions.

    Stare Mare Stare

I've done wifi with an extender in the barn and when that didn't work last time a cable from the camera to the modem in the house. Wifi is easiest, you can watch on your phone anywhere(the cameras all come with an app). I don't have internet right now so run a cable for cctv, works great too but...

Do you use Balls or toys?

I tried a jolly ball with everyone(the same one), no one would touch it, the dog has it now. All the boys love the exercise balls but they don't last more than an hour. Finn loved going into a plastic barrel that was on it's side when he was little, he'd hang out in there and it took me a while...

    Please Poop!

I'm so glad he's better!! Maybe put in a colic camera instead of a foaling camera?

    Crazy shedding in winter

It's probably because he's spending time in your house where it's warm. I'd blanket him really well when he's out so his temp stays about the same. Drastic temp changes can be a cause of colic.

    Mare Watch Thread

That looks like breathing to me but what do I know? I've only seen movement with one and it was definite 'pieces' poking out then disappearing. That said I haven't been able to see anything in any of the videos posted. I so badly want her to be in foal for you!!

    Mare Watch Thread

I think you can normally start feeling kicks around 7 months, so that would be about now? What you felt could have been a foal, keep getting her used to you hugging her belly and touching her udder, you should start feeling more happening in there( I hope) and have a better chance of feeling any...

    Mare Watch Thread

Good luck finding her udder under all that hair! LOL! I find using a hand mirror works really well for getting udder shots unless you want to get under her or take a bunch before one works well. Now you have the 'fun' of trying to feel movement and see any changes starting to happen. I'm hoping...

    How's the Weather ?

I LOVE my 'Elmer Fudd' hat. You know, the one with the fake fir lining that goes over your ears and half way around your face and ties under your chin.

A mini blog for the mini demons! ♡

They are wonderful and so much fun for you to have them around. Are they all keepers?

    My new “shaggy” Lil Monkey!!!

I've seen a lot of horses who are very thin/malnourished who have a really long shaggy coat especially when it's colder. Even though it's warm there it's still 'winter', he could have grown the hair to try to stay warm since he was so thin. Thank you for giving him a good home!!!!!!

    Blanketing Minis ❄️

I'm the voice of dissent I guess. I blanket! They get a light(150-200gm) blanket on when it gets to 0 to 5 C, below 0 they get a heavy(300gm) blanket on top of that. Most of them come in at night so get the top one off, the ones that don't have an inside stall keep both on. They are always more...

    He’s just evil

All good advise. If he's had almost no handling and what he's had probably wasn't good your working with fear and no reason to trust. Training is always possible no matter the age or how bad their background is, if a mature mustang can be gentled and turn into a pocket pal anything is possible...
