    "safe date" is 300 days?

I hope so. She definitely seems to be over it haha

    "safe date" is 300 days?

If she took in April she would be roughly 354. If she took in May, roughly 327. She's getting a bag but man I'm not sure her poor stomach can stretch much more! Udder is tonight, calf hut photo is a few days old, baby has definitely turned since then (third pic is today, 4th is yesterday)

Oh goodness, I love Larry! He's gorgeous!

    Just for fun!

I never saw the stud in person and these are the only photos I have of him. He's not as bad as I remembered, his forelegs look a bit wonky though. Included some of my mare as well from when we brought her home before the baby balloon 🤣 She hadn't been driven in about 2 years, and she did so...

    Just for fun!

That makes sense for sure! I wouldn't have bred her myself, not just because I don't know her genetic history, but for the same reasons I decided not to breed our Shetland/Welsh mare years ago, it wasn't worth it to me to risk my mare, and back then I didn't have any breeder friends. I have some...

    Just for fun!

What days have your mares foaled, and what times were babies born? Still passing time waiting for my mare to foal. We now are beginning to thing she took in her may heat not April (pasture bred with prior owner, I was unaware at purchase) Thought this could be a fun way to pass the time and...

    "safe date" is 300 days?

She's still holding it hostage 🤣 a bag has finally started so I'm thankful for that at least!

    "safe date" is 300 days?

This one was once set up for my 15h appaloosa gelding. In the pasture we have a double calf hut that she uses, that we've used for calves and sheep, but she makes the claves use the small singles during the day when she's out there 🤣 they learned really quick to make room for the queen, and...

    "safe date" is 300 days?

It's a steel quonset hut(not sure of brand). We divide it in half when we have bottle calves in winter and use tarps to hold heat in. Once they were weaned I cleaned it all out, borrowed some rubber mats and set it up as her foaling stall. It's not perfect but it's dry shelter with a decent...

    "safe date" is 300 days?

We are somewhere between 327&334 and she's got a tiny start of a bag, a deep V belly, relaxed vulva, but no starting of labor at all. She slept most of last night, unlike myself 🤣 between foal watch, my husbands apnea and my baby in a growth spurt I'm exhausted and sneaking power naps through...

    Any hay savvy people?

I do also typically toss whatever hay she had picked through but not eaten to the back of her stall to use as bedding, I was just wanting some clean straw for when she's foaling, and a few days after until I can use shavings.

    Any hay savvy people?

It's supposedly a sorghum and grass mix that was baled up, my friend bought it for her cattle to see if they'd eat it, but this bale broke open so she offered it to me as bedding as she knew I was low on straw. I went over and filled several contractor bags and went to spread some today and...

    Any hay savvy people?

I was gifted some straw to use as bedding that includes sorghum among others. It's nice, clean bedding however I noticed a lot of these seed heads and I am not able to ID them. The mare I planned to use the bedding for is 331 days into gestation and could foal at anytime so I'm concerned it...

    "safe date" is 300 days?

Still holding on haha. But she's finally getting some swelling in her bag. No milk, but it's developing.

Can you tell if a mare is delaying labor?

No baby, she was pretty relaxed last night, didn't eat as much, but she slept more than I've typically noticed on cameras. Hopefully she's resting up to release her hostage soon 🤣 I'm excited to meet the little one a d just praying it all goes well and everyone is healthy.

Can you tell if a mare is delaying labor?

She was loose in the vulva again this morning at turn out(9am). I had a birthday lunch before school run and I was going to be gone a few hours, so I went out (12:30pm) to look her over before leaving with her in the pasture (it's short grass now, and chilly but not freezing so it wouldn't be...

Can you tell if a mare is delaying labor?

Yes, maiden. No milk or colostrum expressed yet. I know there's still time, and that on occasion they'll bag up right before or during labor as well. I'm just keeping an eye on all of it to make sure I'm there if she needs help or the sac needs breaking.

Can you tell if a mare is delaying labor?

She still has no bag. It's puffier palpably and I can feel the glands are enlarged but no milk or bag.

Can you tell if a mare is delaying labor?

~Day 325 My maiden mare has had a fairly loose vulva for a few weeks now, this morning she had some discharge (reddish) and looked well dropped, which has been on and off for awhile as well. Tonight when she came in she wasn't crying to come in, didn't try to trot the whole way to the stall...

    "safe date" is 300 days?
