    Menopause

I dont recommend any soy stuff- its all GMO now. Hmmmm, are you sure this is only from going through the change? I had to have a partial hysterectomy due to the condition my uterus was in- it was literally like falling apart. Very painful and awful... cant remember the 'technical' name of the...

could we be any more of a Narcssist??

I also love looking at all the displays and booths, and in past years, relaxed at the Watering Hole and others... and it was nice to have a comfortable place to sit in the barn and chat with other folks about our favorite subject! I dont feel it's putting on airs, it's Nationals or Worlds, for...

    AMHA/AMHR/ASPC horses - your thoughts?

If it's a good horse, I love them all- the more the merrier! I'm with Field of Dreams, it expands your horse world and also the shows you can attend! (more fun!)

Registering Foals/Breeding Reports - Alerts mare owners?

Agreed... it's the stallion owners job to fill out and file the reports with the registries and provide the mare owners with the breeding certificate, so when the foals are born, they can be registered. The mare owner is notified of nothing, so it falls on the stallion owner to keep good and...

Asking for your experiences (not opinions) with keeping a single horse

I have with both big and small horses at one time or another, and they did wonderfully and actually seemed to bond better with me! They didnt exhibit any stress about it at all and didnt seem to care.

    Deworming problem

Worms are the number one reason for colic. It can also cause chronic coughs and of course, death. If a horse is passing worms, it is LOADED with worms and I agree with a previous post, that is cruel and neglect. If the parents dont want to spend $5 on another tube of wormer for a couple more...

    Neighbor Rant

Find an article talking about the dangers of this and give it to him. Perhaps he thinks he 'knows better' and thinks you are making it up. And yes, I would let him know he will be responsible for any vet bills or the death of one of your Minis.

    Deworming problem

Have not read all the posts, but that means the horse is very overloaded with worms! She needs wormed more often on a regular basis. No horse should be allowed to get that wormy before being wormed. It causes internal damage that could eventually be fatal. (We were given a couple of horses...

    Dogs...what to do

Dogs charging, running loose and bothering other people or animals is NOT ok. And in my opinion, doing nothing is making it ok. Then it gets to the point that something bad happens- maybe not to you, but to someone. Report it and keep reporting it until something is done. Here, we are...

New little filly - Suggestions welcome!

Awwwww! She looks fairly young? Some of her issue may be lack of nutrition. I would add some good Junior feed to her daily ration. I feed the Purina Equine Jr and have had excellent luck with that, fed with their alfalfa hay. Minis require a bit more protein than the bigger counterparts...

Does Anyone Else Have a Filly that...

I agree they all have different personalities but I have noticed that the girls never play to the extent that the boys do. Because your filly is on the lazy side, lol, I wonder if her 'melt downs' are just to get out of doing stuff she doesnt want to do? I would try working her through some of...

    HELP PLEASE *Sick Foal*

I would go for a 2nd opinion elsewhere. Babies can crash so fast- and the current vet obviously has no clue. Sure hoping someone can save this little one.

    HELP PLEASE *Sick Foal*

That was my thoughts too... joint ill? It appears to need aggressive treatment a.s.a.p. if they are not already. And something to stop the proud flesh from forming...........

    AMHR "V" = Revoked?

I bet a quick call to the registry to ask would solve the question..........

    Register question...

Folks are correct- it does not qualify to hardship into AMHA, so I dont think there will be any registration of the foal anywhere, since AMHR doesnt hardship either.

Help, my filly is getting too sassy and nipping!!

I have fed alfalfa for 40 years and have not found it to cause a horse to be nippy. It's an age thing. I agree that she is trying to push her boundaries and move up the ladder in the pecking order. If she did this to any other horse in the herd, she would be put in her place immediately...

    AMHR HARDSHIP SALE SOON OVER

Yes!! Great reminder for those who need it!!! It's a great deal!

moving - cool/cold climate to warm

Excellent decision... it's hard here right now because the days are still in the upper 80's, but the nights mid 40's and chilly and next week is supposed to be really cooling off more. Its desert here where I am but it does get below freezing in winter, so they still need hair.

    Bond Bred Horses

I also avoid Bond bred horses just because of what I call a 'haphazard' breeding program and knowingly using dwarfs for breeding. A friend of mine had spoken to him at one time and he didnt mind making dwarfs- he sold them for good money and when they died at an earlier age than normal because...

moving - cool/cold climate to warm

NO! I am in a warm desert climate and our night time/early morning temps are down in the 40's!! Also if winter storms hit, it's going to be cold and wet. I do not recommend clipping.
