Yes, Rhondaalaska, this baby got tobiano from her sire and splashed white from her dam. She has mixed patterns. The blue eye is from her dam line. The dam's sire is a blue eyed, medicine hat splashed white/tobiano. Blue eyes in pintos most frequently come from the splashed white pattern.

All red based foals I've ever had of any breed were born with pink skin around their eyes that darkened by the time they were a week old. Looking forward to hearing your test results.

As to what to feed an easy keeper and yet still be able to fit for show, I would highly recommend a Grass Ration/Diet Balancer, grass pellets and grass hay. I fit the horse in my Avatar, Fiesta Acres Mystique, on that diet last year and he is now a World Champion and Top 10.

My suggestion would be either a growth formula feed or a diet/ration balancer. Plus hay. You want that filly to have the proper balance of minerals as they are absolutely critical during the growth years. She could well outgrow her problems on the right diet. I was having some leg issues...
