Yes, it seems horses for courses doesnt it? Some will enjoy it more than others. Even though he has made his distate known, I stil intend to show him from time to time. He lives a pretty good life so I think it is reasonable that he should be able to go 'round in a few circles looking pretty...

Has anyone used these traces or company?

Woohoo, how wonderful that you are about to work his butt off, I am sure he will think it is a hoot too! I hope the weather is good to you as I was reading a thread where people were saying the weather was a bit too cold/snowy for driving. I am loving my cart too, it is just a bit too pretty...

Spares Kits - what's in your kit?

This has reminded me to get a bit more serious about my spares kit. I have a bike pump for my tyres, a halter and lead, spare set of traces and some baling twine. I always carry my mobile (cell?) phone in my pocket too. I drink a lot of water so also often have a hydrapack on my back which is...

Is your driving limited with the cold weather?

No, not limited by the cold buuuut am extremely limited by the heat! It is a day away from Summer here and the temperature is 107F....the sun is beating down mercilessly and I feel like I need a bag of IV fluids to keep hydrated, so my dear pony is currently under the shade of a fig tree with a...

Has anyone used these traces or company?

Peggy, Janie from Chimacum is an absolute delight to deal with, I can't recommend her highly enough. I had received traces from another company that were not the length I ordered and were too short, even though I hadn't bought from Janie originally she was so kind and felt badly for me and had...

Great pointers! Yes, I do find it boorrring- perhaps 'unexciting is a more accurate term- but like the social aspect of a being at a show. I will try and be a bit more enthusiastic and see if it infects him also.

Ahh how you describe Skip is what I am experiencing totally...yes yes yes!! Hmm wiffle bat, I don't think an electric cattle prod whip would have made a difference to him, he just wasn't going to bother himself with going round in circles. Happy Appy I reckon you are on to it, he hates it, but...

My pony is a lovey forward mover on trails, roadwork etc. Put him in a show ring though and he is a SLUG. Seriously. It is all I can do to get him not to stop still and stand at where the line-up will be everytime the circle passes by that point. Keeping him trotting is exhausting!! It was only...

So happy with my lil guy- pic added

Naw, I miss FB for keeping up with my 'friends from afar' like you.. I hope Mingus is having a fun Winter. Just re-read my original post and realised it sounded like I pulled my horse outta the paddock and made him work his butt off, I have to say he has been driven kinda regulary, but just for...

So happy with my lil guy- pic added

I haven't been on LB for ages...or FB or anything vaguely social as I have been busy and am too much of a social butterfly to focus and get work done if I am looking at interesting stuff online. lol I haven't done a great deal of driving lately either but decided to head out to a show yesterday...

    1st horse show in Alaska

Just great! You two look wonderful together, congrats. You look so elegant! I hope someone more experienced will come along re:breeching, but my basic understanding is that you wouldn't want the breeching to suddenly 'sneak up' and startle a horse, which may happen if it is so loose the horse...

My new wooden cart is finished!! Photos

hee hee yes, I rather think so Peggy. Can't wait to see your little guy when he gets going, he is one spunky little equine! hurrah! Glad you replied Leia, I was looking for a bit of feedback. The breeching here is such a tricky thing. I prefer it up a notch and had it like that at a club day...

My new wooden cart is finished!! Photos

I have had two drives now I snuck out yesterday quickly. It felt a little goofy (but comfy!) on the first drive as my seating position was higher than my existing cart, I just went out again today and felt great in it. I kept cringeing if there was a pot hole in the road we were going to drive...
