    Leaving Halters On.....No!

The harder to catch, the smaller the stall I keep the horse in. They earn a larger space

    Electric hoof knife

I've seen them used in shoeing stocks. Otherwise, I think it's one of those "it's okay until it's not" situations.

    Cart/Harness fit critique?

Myler does make a fantastic bit, and you can custom select the options. Well worth the money.

im new to registered mini's are these good blood lines?

Haven't heard of either of them. Best to just look at the horse, because even National Grand Champion parents can produce something not-so-great (although it does decrease the odds and gives the horse some marketability).

    Vet prices

I pay at least $75 for a farm call... But by the minute sounds like a good way to keep clients from distracting the vet and making later appointments from being too late. I know my vets have trouble staying on time because previous appointments schedule a vaccination and then say "while you're...

    Driving Accident Prevention

I've actually used on an accident... A seat belt cutter. Like butter, and super glad I had it in the barn.

    Boredom?

How did you monitor his water when he was out on pasture?

Miniature Horses: Making a Good Impression

I've had lots of farriers and vets comment on how GOOD my horses behave, so I've got to guess the "spoiled rotten" mini pets outnumber the properly handled ones. I don't feel that minis or ponies have temperaments the different from one another or from bigger breeds. When it all comes down to...

    Driving Accident Prevention

Margo... Are you sure they use Freedman's harness? I thought they used Shanahan. Freedman's is more the hackney/Arab folks' preference.... And Shanahan is THE draft harness guy. I could be wrong though. Anyway, draft horses are FAR less likely to go all akimbo in a wreck like that. Those...

    Losing Her Fluff

I would clip her. It will greatly help clear up that (fungus?) she appears to have. More than any other medication. The skin can't get healthy with thick dirty hair.

    Pregnant mare Care

Read up about foaling and do everything you can to assure she has an attended birth. That hour of birth is when the most tragic things can occur to mare, foal, or both. More so than malnourishment or proper foal handling.

    What do we have ???

Sounds like small ponies! I hope they thrive for you!

Possibly pregnant mare wont eat grain

Can you give us more accurate information? If you've only had her for 8-10 weeks but have tried over a dozen grains.... Pick one and give her time to adjust to its flavor or texture before changing it before the week is out. If she was still thin when you got her, she may not have been eating...

    Teething Issues?

Painful shedding of caps can cause reluctance to eat or dropping of chewed food... But not really "teething." I'd blame boredom for that.

    braiding for roadster class

Although you technically can braid however you like, there is a traditional way. Two ribbon of one color and an accent of another color. All three strands have hair folded into them, so when you run out of hair you can just keep braiding down. The top and bottom of the ribbon, fold in half...

    Boredom?

My pony has been a "water cribber" his whole life. I ran two blood/urine tests to rule out medical conditions. He just likes to drink water until he feels super full. Per my vet, he has his water rationed. Been rationing his water for years and no colic. So it could be from boredom if he is...

    **Flys**

If you've got wounds or really sensitive areas, a fly repellent cream like SWAT or VIP will be ideal.

Question about creative or different sources of income

I think the best compost is bedding-based. This supplies the best ratio of green and brown ingredients for healthy plants.

    **Flys**

I eat a ridiculous amount of garlic (I'm Italian and looooove it) and Mosquitos adore me. One year my barn all went in on a 25# tub of garlic, and although the horses all had "pizza breath" it didn't make a difference with the flies. So I don't really think it works.

    Spring clipping--sunburn?

You can put sunblock on him. The spray type is easiest.
