Show .. Same horse different regestry

Well said and I also do not see the reason for so much resistance.

    Sharpening of clipper blades

Most places charge about $5 per set plus shipping. I have mostly oster blades so I send most of mine to oster direct. their number is 800-830-3678. I also hear good things about shelco sharpening--417-366-2101 and procut--785-883-4883.

2 pairs of clippers DEAD and still not halfway done clipping. HELP

Peggy, I don't know that number. Here is where I get my Andis clippers as a rule and the ones I would buy again. http://www.jeffersequine.com/andis-agc-2-speed-clipper/camid/EQU/cp/AC-A4/cn/25013/ http://www.jeffersequine.com/andis-agc-super-2-speed-professional/camid/EQU/cp/AC-A5/cn/25013/...

Show .. Same horse different regestry

I could not go along with that idea. Too many of us have double registered horses that we not only show in different registries at different shows, but many of us will also go to both the ASPC Congress and AMHR Nationals in the same year because they are allowed to do so. I have one mare in...

    new to minis...

Some of my minis stay the same color when clipped and other change from year to year. You can clip anytime and the color will not be affected. As for harness type, I have both beta and leather and would get leather again--every time. Don't like the beta. You will get as many opinions on this...

2 pairs of clippers DEAD and still not halfway done clipping. HELP

If you go to jeffersequine online, you can order and have a set in your hands in just a few days. They have the Andis agc two speed for about $150 with no shipping--last I looked about a week ago. Well worth waiting for. They will work great as that is what we used for many years before we...

    She hates her legs touched

Here I go with my broom again. Really the same concept as Jamie's.

Clipping a filly who hates it!

I know that it seems I use my broom a lot, but then I do--LOL. If I have one that is just so bad that it won't stand no matter what, I will try the broom thing--poking the bristles and sweeping them across her legs till she stands. Try clipping and if she won't stand, repeat. It may take...

Seriously getting frustrated with the endless biting-colt bites me!

When we have a biter here, we try to be consistent in the way we do things. First we will play with him/her (young mares have been the worst here) for a little while. Really lavish the attention. then we go to doing other stuff like cleaning hooves or whatever. Once we know they are a biter...

    AMHA Show April 29th questions

What did you use to measure him? I have a really cheap stick and it seems to measure at least 1/2" taller than an steward will measure and sometimes more. If his feet need any trimming at all, that could easily take 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the measure. Good luck and have fun.

New PMC rule - does this bother anyone else, or is it just me?

I, too, think this is pretty broad, but how does the show manager police this? There needs to be something--like the amateur card--that PMC exhibitors need to get and have a signature for. As a show manager, it was asked of me to question someone and that is really hard to do because of so...

Help Needed for Newbie in Mississippi

Welcome to the forum. If you can get them to come back into the smaller area for the night, they will be ok in the larger area for the day time--after working them up a few hours longer at a time. My main reason for getting them in is to keep them safer if you think there may be dogs around...

    Lice????

Have never seen fleas on our horses and we have some serious flea issues around here on a regular basis.

    Need Advice for LICE :(

We don't have horses coming or leaving here on any sort of regular basis except to go to shows and we still seem to have at least one or two with lice every spring when we clip. We have about 30 to clip each year. One thing that was not mentioned is to clean the stall and treat for lice...

    Soft poop????

I would also keep an eye on her, but diet change and/or stress of new home can cause that and should get better in a few days or week or so. If it continues beyond a week or gets worse, I think that I would contact a vet and get their opinion.

    Blanketing Help?

We have clipped 14 so far this spring. The temps have nearly reached 50 for a low this week. We use a lightly insulated blanket for night time and when it reaches about 65 or 70 during the day and the sun is out, we take them all off and then reblanket again at night. If it is rainy and...

Show stance...how to train...to stretch out or not to stretch.

I will never forget the advice an older show lady gave the teenager that was with me. She said that no matter how much you move, when you squat in any way, keep your knees together. A lady doesn't squat with her knees apart. I thought it was funny until I watched a lot of classes. She is...

    Charging for Tour of Farm

Only family and friends are allowed to come here--way too concerned about liability. If anyone else wants to see the horses--especially school or daycare groups, I will suggest that we bring a horse to their facility for a small fuel fee. Easier to control the situation if I am handling the...

We Are Giving Our Members BACK $20! - AMHR Membership

Any time they have had a question about my paperwork, they did call me. If there is a signature missing, I would think they have to send that paper back to be signed.
