    Show makeup

I hate the black make up...way too messy and you end up with it on your hands and clothes! But, you can use a Sharpie pen and black out your horses upper eyes and muzzle, then use baby oil (I use the gel not liquid) over it....which make it shine! Oh one more hint...I always wear disposable...

Anything to help dry up mare's milk?

Wild is pretty sensitive in that area and we really had to teach her to trust us with touching her udders before her foal was born to test milk readiness, so I don't think she would let us do cold compresses on her udders. We did find a site that suggested using Nettle which is a natural...

Anything to help dry up mare's milk?

Usually I don't have a problem with mares drying up after weaning their babies, but out Shetland mare is having a hard time. Her bag is staying pretty engorged and yesterday she wasn't feeling well. This is a mare who never lays down and she kept laying down while we were out feeding last...

    "Introducing" my new......

Now that it is done...I am happy with my decision! I think we will both be happier now...He was always getting "teased" by mares in heat near his pen and I am excited to show him!! In the local shows, Deb and I will be competing against each other in Sr. Over geldings now since she shows Jet...

Miniature Horse world has lost another....

I am sad to announce that Richard Ray of Silver Meadows Training Center in Anthony, Florida has passed away. He was the hands behind all the wonderful driving horses that have won so much in both AMHA and AMHR...truly one of the best driving trainers out there today! My condolences go out to...

Minor aggressive / protective instict in new dog

I have a 13 yr old MinPin who is exactly the same....and has been his whole life (I got him when he was 9 mo old, so his "puppy socialization habits" were already pretty much in place by then). Your dog is young...and trainable. He is probably insecure and scared...and trying to see where he...

    Weanling pony filly :)

The pony section doesn't get much action, so I thought I'd post the latest pic of Sadie our 3 month old ASPC filly here. I really like the way she is maturing so far...I really wish we could have brought her to Congress this year, but just wasn't going to happen. We will be taking her to our...

    Trucks: what do you drive?

We traded our 2000 Toyota Tundra (V8 4dr) last winter for a 2011 Ford F-150 crew cab....LOVE it! It pulls our 3 horse GN trailer fine (we wondered...and we do have to be careful how much weight we do pull with it), but when we are ready for an "upgrade" we will go up to a F-350, just so we...

"Bred for 2013" as a selling point - not!

I didn't read thru everyone's posts, but as a farm that has recently decided to sell all of our broodmares, geld our stallion and no longer breed...i went thru the "should I or shouldn't I?" question about breeding all of the mares before offering them for sale. In the past, having an open mare...
