    Anyone know Amish driving commands?

Figured out the command! "Step Walk" and "Step Trot" and he does! He is moving forward nicely! Funny how one word makes such a differance! I could start saying "step" softer and walk and trot louder...I think I will ground drive him a while before I hitch him up again. He is stopping crooked...

How do your donkeys like this weather???

We have one donkey now and 14 mini horses. The Jack is the only one that shivers and shakes and needs a blanket! He does go outside to bray at the "pretty little mares", If it weren't for them, I think he would stay inside.

Sleighs, Sleds and other such stuff

In our neck of the wood, Santa's been known to drive a donkey sled! This is an old roadster cart we have, that came with runners. It works pretty well. Gee, hope someone gives Santa some black boots for Christmas!

A really funny video of one of my colts..

That is really cute! He had to try it from both side! Maybe one side is manure and the other side is a snow bank! He's not a ditz, just inexperienced in life-LOL!

I now have a show cart!

Congrats on the new cart! I have also just taken delivery of my first show cart, not a new one, but very nicely redone. I have been looking for covers, and see that there is one on ebay, very inexpensive, with free shipping. I am going to order one in a couple days. Have fun with your new...

    Anyone know Amish driving commands?

He doesn't move forward (unless being led) both ground -driving and hitched, so it might not be a harnessing/cart issue. I am hoping to find out the commands--it would be easier than re-training him.

    Anyone know Amish driving commands?

Kissing and clucking do not work for Fancy. I did a search too, after I posted this topic, and I came up with "step" to move forward, or using the horse's name. Also that individuals often have their own phrases. Fancy was trained by a 10 year old boy, who is now 13. He has trained many minis...

    Anyone know Amish driving commands?

We have a wonderful new addition! He is a small stallion, who was formerly an "Amish School-Bus". He drove 5 little Amish children to school, stood hitched for many hours and drove them home 2-3 days a week. He has been described by his owner (we will be his co-owners) as a "trotting powerhouse"...

What a wonderful day and great opportunities! I hope all of it goes very well for you and you have a great time! There is something soothing and mind-less in cleaning stalls--and poop never ends!

    Horse size for driving!

We have just added a new little stallion who drives. He is a small 29.5 inches. I have broodmares that size, but they are bigger bodied and longer built. He was formerly owned and trained by the Amish. He was trained by a ten year old Amish boy and used as a "Amish School-bus" for several...

    Diagram of beginning cones courses

I followed the advice and bought plastic pumpkin baskets to substitute for cones. 20 for 2 bucks! How should I set them up? Could someone draw a diagram or two in your response? My driving mare comes home from training today! Yippeeeeeee! Now the fun begins!
