If you are in doubt, ask your vet. They are your best resource. If he is going to be around any mares, best to have him gelded as early as you can, just to be safe.

Shetlands get a bad wrap at times. It totally sounds like lack of training. If you are interested in aquiring this boy, I would suggest gelding him ASAP. It will calm him down some. You will need to start with basic training and manners. Any horse can be pushy if allowed.

I suggest some good brushing and shedding blade, trim the bridle paths, forelocks, and use hoof polish. Maybe you can use a damp cloth to take off the surface dirt. Have fun w/ your party, and let your ponies shine!!!!
