    Dasher, my rescue pony

I have owned a TB ex-racehorse. (he may rest in peace) Every time he went out of training he got a locking patella too. If he was in training again this problem disappeared. So this won't be a big problem I think.

    WINTER WORKSHOP

We use cavaletti for all our CDE ponies. I use them to shorten (smaller circle) and to lengthen (taller circle) the stride. I can't ride my shetlands so I have to train them with this help to explain to them what my goal is. I also like to use cavaleiit for building up muscles and forming the...

    Need some pointers

I would like to add that you have to work with your horse and not against it. We are driving CDE's nearly twice a month at A and M (I don't know the right term for it in Englisch). My best pony (he is partbred English Shetland and American Shetland) competed with me last year at the Moritzburger...

Anyone use the T Touch method

We use TTouch for our horses, dos, cats and Llamas. It is really relaxing and bonding. I don't think it is a cure for everything but it works well for quality time spend with you companion. We have had a trainer several times here for us and our staff. It is nice for weanlings and youngstock...

Which one would you train to drive?

I feel it is more important who enjoys more working. But at first sight I would guess the second one is better for driving because the breast is wider. The first one has his point of shoulder and his windpipe close together. It will be not easy to fit a collar or breastcollor. They are both...

    Stallions living together

All our stallions live together and we hand breed them all. We have never had any issues of getting mares in foal. We evaluated their sperm and there were nothing exceptional from "normal" stallions.

    new AMHA driving DVD

Hello, I have read in the latest MHW that AMHA offers a new driving DVD. This DVD would suit perfect my needs. Now I can't find anything on their website about this new DVD. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Jessica

When to stop driving before a show

Oh - I am so sorry that I haven't written understandable. ATP ist stored in the muscle and is like gas to your car. It needs after a hard workout up to three days to rebuild. So it could happen, that if you trained your pony hard it couldn't do any strong muscle work because of lack of 'gas'...

When to stop driving before a show

We are competing in CDE's and we would give the horses one to three days off before the show and the day after the show. I believe that ATP has to be stored in the muscles for a harder workout at a competition especially at the marathon. We have one shetland-mix that work before the show too...

    Another foal last night

Congratulations! She is a nice filly. I would like to borrow the filly fairy or could you send her to me? I am breeding my warmblood mare and I would like to get a filly too next year...

    weaning time

We wean not until 6-7 months and we do it gradually. I understand that the lactation has its peak at 12 weeks and there after the milk is getting less important. But in my opinion neither mare nor foal are mentally ready. All younger weaned foals have regressed in maturing. And for performance...
