I think it's the wrong Zanders. The first name is different

I know some Zanders in Tx. They have the Bar Z farm prefix. I have no idea if it's the same Sanders. Very nice people, though.

It doesn't seem to matter what color hat men/boys wear. Some go light, some go dark.

AMHA does not allow any color enhancing on the legs or body. No chalk, dye, marker,or spray ons.

I have a bay sabino tobiano mare that was registered as a chestnut pinto. Color testing revealed that she's really bay. As a 3 yr old, there are some grey hairs in her mane and tail- that's the 'black ' mane and tail of a bay.

I've had this happen a few times. Have your vet check her for a retained CL (corpus luteum). Does she have a foal at side? Some mares are "every other year mares " or need to have the foal out of the nearby vicinity. Otherwise, the timing is off.

Be careful - my vet has warned me that this can be a symptom of septicemia. I've had some do this and they all required careful monitoring. Try honey or Karo syrup to keep his blood sugar up.

All tests are back : gg, Aa, ee, Crn, nn(silver) . So he is a palomino pinto, no grey, no silver, one copy of agouti! I'm very happy!!!

One color test is back. The colt is NOT grey. I asked for this test first because I didn't want to spend a lot if he was going to grey out. I'll order the other tests now. Oh, he now has a name: Peakviews Captain Crunch, aka "Captain". More photos soon. I've been a little busy.
