    Anhydrosis

I've got one with anhydrosis. He's been on One AC and Guinness Stout. He's doing very well and really seems to enjoy his cold beer!

    winter blanket

I like the Kensington waterproof blanket, except sometimes the leg straps are too short. It's still my favorite though

Could everybody say a prayer for this mother...........

Oh my! It's hard to understand the evil in some people.

What could be wrong with my dog? Another video added page 4

Why don't you put her in another environment and see if the behavior stops? Then you will know if it's her or something in your house. You could board her at your vet and they can observe her behavior for a few days.

    My new Appaloosa !!

AMHA is $1200 plus DNA and inspector's expenses for a stallion; $200 plus DNA and inspector's fees for a gelding.

    Thinking about buying/showing..

Don't forget Buckeye WCF, AMHR breeder of the year!! I suggest you look at horses at a show to get a feel for what you like. ASPC/AMHR horses are hot right now and a good ASPC/AMHR/AMHA is really sought after.

mare rejecting 2 month old foal

Have you checked with your vet? There may be a physical reason why she's rejecting him. At the very least the vet can give you some long acting sedatives for her.

Test Results for ChaCha - My hardkeeper PHOTOS ADDED AT BOTTOM

I had an experience where the dentist I was using missed some significant problems. An experience miniature vet was able to sedate the horse and deal with some hooks and points way in the back that the dentist had missed. And this happened on more than one horse. You might want to get a second...

Test Results for ChaCha - My hardkeeper PHOTOS ADDED AT BOTTOM

I'm sure you covered this in an earlier post, but have you done a Panacur Powerpack on her? I had a big horse that kept getting thinner and thinner. She had been wormed regularly, but the vet suggested the powerpack and it worked.

    sweacting aids?..

I clip both sides (under and over) of the mane so the mane appears to come out of the center of the mane area. If you don't feel comfortable with this, then just clip the under side of the mane.

    Curious what everyone feeds

Our show horses (stalled) get alfalfa cubes with either Purina Strategy Healthy Edge or Equine Junior - depending on the horse's age. They also get Platinum Performance as a supplement. Pasture horses get a small amount of Healthy Edge in the summer to keep them coming up. They have 24/7 access...

Donkey with miniatures? protection from predators

I have full size donkeys with our miniatures and haven't had any problems. We've been doing this for over 8 years.

    What would you do next?

I would do whatever your vet recommends. I agree that thyroid testing is probably indicated. And probably Cushings (although she doesn't sound like the Cushings pony I once had). Has the vet considered food allergies or chronic pain? Feeds I would try are: Equine Senior, Ultium, and Equine Jr...

Question for those who keep grown offspring with dams....

I call it herd bound rather than barn sour, but it describes the same thing. I do have a big horse that lived with her son, after he was weaned and gelded, until he was six. She eventually relaxed about having him around. I have two show horses that recently became very attached to each other...

    Sick foal losing hair

My vet told me that some/many red bags are due to a placentitis. So the septicemia could have come from his mom in utero. I had one red bag this year (our first) and it was due to a placentitis. Mom was flushed and treated and baby was given 'super' plasma and watched for three days. I believe...

Flies! At the end of my rope

Jan - I don't have a fly spray system - I wish I did. I have fans blowing on high in every stall. They are pointing slightly (about a 45 degree angle) down towards the feed buckets. I've got all the doors open to keep a good breeze going.

    ♥ ♥ ♥ 2012 Foals ♥ ♥ ♥

We're done with foaling for the year. 2 colts and 1 filly. The colts are a buckskin and a silver bay homozygous pinto. The filly is a silver smokey black. Here are photos of two of the three. Peakviews Stormin' Norman (ERL Voltaire For The Record X Cherryville Rios Angelique), AMHR only...

    Internal scanning of pregnant mares

Vickie - If you are anywhere near Burleson, TX, there are two outstanding vets there. One has done all my miniature ultrasounds, with complete accuracy and complete safety. She has very small hands and the equipment necessary to do miniature ultrasounds. I decided several years ago to breed...
