Oh thank you. and... I goofed on not taking the correct picture angle from the back end. I thot it was to be from top looking down. I will get another photo of the back looking down on the sides to see how she is positioned. She is used to being looked at evidently and sure knows what we are up...

Rosey - foaling date 1st week of March

She is looking great and it helps me to see where she is at as our Jewel is looking to be as close as your Rosey is. I think we could have foals around the same time. I introduced Jewel to her birthing stahl last week to show her we DO have a plan. She has had some fancier accomodations I am...

    Our Very First Minis

Our Grandson was so excited to be able to come out and walk our little fluffy Mini, Sparkles. Her winter hair has made her look so fluffy and also makes her look heavier than she actually is. This little horse is so gentle. I wasnt sure how she would do with our 2 1/2 grandson but she did...

    Charm - Filly 3/23/13!!!

Oh excited for you. Our chestnut mares are going to be due really close together it seems. We havent had ours long either and I had very little information when she came to us. I didnt even know for sure if she had been bred until I saw her belly move a lot. You can look at my start up thread of...

Yeah! Jewel has foaled a 'fool day' filly 4.1.13

Thank you so much for this helpful information. I am thinking and hoping we have at least 2-3 weeks. Her udder just isnt filling or doing much at all. I will make an appointment with the vet to come out. They are just a few miles from us. I am all for vaccinations - especially with the foal but...

Yeah! Jewel has foaled a 'fool day' filly 4.1.13

I was able to get her hooves all cleaned and shaped up a bit. Farrier came out at about 3 weeks ago and her hooves seem to be growing fast. Does anyone know what to give a newborn foal to help with a equine Cocci. Is this a problem for new borns? I cant seem to find anything like that at the...

We have actually been able to walk her in a good way every day this week. She fusses a bit on coming up the hill but it has been good for all of us to get some fresh sunshine and air. Yeah! Jewel has foaled a 'fool day' filly 4.1.13

Here are some photos of Jewel that we took today. I think she is looking very close. Even perhaps within the next week to 3 weeks. We cleaned up her udder and her tail end areas & belly very well today. The foal was kicking and very active today making her very uncomfortable. Her udder is a bit...

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

Wow.. this was very interesting. There are so many people I need to talk with around in my area about their horses. We live in a very large area of horse ranchers, and hobby horse people. We all seem to have the same kind of grass from Cottonwood to Red bluff areas, and a lot of our hay comes...

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

We live in Northern California in a Non irrigated area of oaks, hills and dry summer grass. Below us in the valley all surrounding our small hill acres are irrigated pasture lands.

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

Paintponylover (Paula) Thank you so much for the very informative information. That link is very informative and helpful. I am going to ask around about taking in some samples. Our acres are actually not pasture. I guess the correct term would be more... 'wild grass' as it is not irrigated...

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

Thank you. We have her completely off of all grass. We are from Northern CA. We have also been giving her a bit of oat hay and an orchard grass hay which I presume is fescue free since it is for horses but I will check into that as well. It has been hard to find information about the fescue...

    Our Very First Minis

Thank you. We will get some more photos as time allows. I have to reschedule a vet visit for Jewel Chestnut. I know she needs to have vaccinations. So hard to know how far along she is in her pregnancy. My husband and I were at least able to take them for a little walk today. I may will...

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

Awe.. thanks.. I see horses all around us grazing all the time. Healthy ones and unhealthy ones also. I just wanting to know if anyone knows if it is in the blade or the bud of fescue or in both. I am starting to wonder if it isnt even in the dry hay I'm feeding and am getting all worried...

    Our Very First Minis

We bought our first miniature horses in Oct of 2012 so we havent had them very long at all. We have been trying to learn as much as we can. We have always wanted horses but with having only 6 acres and living busy lives.. time would not make it all practical. The time for us to own our own...

    Venting....you breed 22 inch minis?

If this woman has cancer... perhaps she just needs to take a break and take care of what she has until her health gets better. I can't imagine trying to buy another horse and trying to deal with cancer.. too hard to take care of her own that she has. Health issues at our place are about to...

    Fescue Hay and Field Grass

I have been unable to walk her this week at all and would love to put her down the field a few hours of a day but am worried about 'fescue'. She's a little put out at us for not having a more acceptable area to exercise as I think she has been used to a more pampered or free life.
