Those little crystals you are feeling/getting from her teats is what people refer to as "wax".  It is the colostrum leaking out slowly then crystalies when it hits the air.  GOOD LUCK!  Shouldn't be long now!

From what I can see in the pic of the foal nursing, mom looks pinto.  Has she been tested for silver?  Maybe she carries??

If I were you, I would snug those up tighter around the leg so that big gaping area is not there.  That will allow too much road debris in, and it is that type of thing that will likely be of concern to start rubbing.

When you look past the belly and look at the hind legs, you can see she is standing at an angle, so the "lop-sidedness" may not be as much if pic was taken straight on. Mares can and will often have a clear fluid, but I have never seen it just "leak out". Judging from only that one photo of her...

CONGRATULATIONS!! Hard to say in the light of the barn, but he looks to be a silver dapple maybe?? I would not interfere with the milk replacer unless it is very much needed, which it doesn't sound like it is. The best milk for him is from his dam, and especially for colostrum sake.
