    Palominos

I knew a lady that had a palomino QH and she fed him a bag of carrots a day. He was the most golden palomino I have seen and his coat just sparkled.

Where And How Do You Vaccinate?

NEVER EVER give vaccinations on top of the croup!!! Your vet should know that. Because if a germ/bacteria enters with the needle than the injection sight can not drain and could become severally infected and cause death. When I was just learning to give vaccinations on big horses (years ago)...

sick horse confusing symptoms thoughts or advice please

I had something like this last fall with a couple of my horses. You have to remember if he is not eating a lot he will not poop as much either. My mare when she went off feed only pooped once in a 24 hr period (after she was oiled). She then pooped once at night and two to three piles during...

    sale board problems?

Is anyone else not able to get on the sale board? It tells me no ads found and then won't let me log in. Am I the only one or is anyone else having this problem? Well it let me in on a different address then what I usually type in. Now that is weird.

    razoring appys

I was also told that when you razor an appy it does make more mottling appear. So if you don't want the mottling more defined then I would not razor. I was told this by a big breeder (Joanne Ross, Scott Creek Miniatures).

    Feeding Advice

I also feed whole flax seed and see great results. My horses even shine when they are caked with red clay. But I also feed it as a sand clear product and I am very satisfied with both results.

    Need suggestions (sick horse)

The vet did check the eyes to see if hers where yellow and they weren't. As for Potomac, their dry lots and pasture are high and dry, and most of the time way to dry. We live on GA red clay and up on a hill. Some of the poorest soil there is. I am going to try that Natural Plan Stomach Soother...

    Need suggestions (sick horse)

Thanks for all the input and help. My mare has only been on banimine for a day and a half to help get her fever down. The symptoms started 4 days ago. It really is looking like ulcers but she might have an underlying virus also. She is on ulcer guard and started her on ranitidine tonight. She...

    Need suggestions (sick horse)

Thanks for all your replies. I am thinking ulcers too and have heard that some do run temps with it if it is bad enough. She does get alfalfa hay at night but is not really eating that either. Most of my horses have turned around in 48 hours of giving ulcer guard. She just might have them worse...

    Need suggestions (sick horse)

Yes even thought we really don't have any bot flies here. I have not had to clean off bots eggs since I moved to GA. But I still do worm for them.

    Need suggestions (sick horse)

Hello everyone I am looking for suggestions on a sick mare I have. Now I have had horses for a 40 some years and only had one other case that had me and the vets baffled on what was going on. Now for history of this mare. She is 6 months in foal, on a regular worming program, up to date on...

Input asap- Necropsy report is in 12/5/11 Pg 6

So very sorry for your losses and the very difficult times your are going through. You did all you could do and your buddy passed knowing he was loved.

    Kinda of strange question.

If your horses are not on grass 24-7 then you are not feeding enough hay. You should try to divide your hay in half for morning and night. Also with winter coming on, your grass probably does not have any nutrients in it. You said your hay is very stalky. So it sounds like your are forcing your...

    Now they are both sick

So VERY SORRY for your loss of Lemby. You have gone through the hardest thing that animal lovers have to go through. What counts is you were there for Lemby through his last moments. You never gave up trying to help him. Try not to beat yourself up over this. You DID all you could do. It...

Help!! My mini mare was attacked

I agree with the others. I would have her checked by a vet. I would also keep her on banimine 3 x a day for a few days till she starts moving around more and eating. My guess she is VERY VERY SORE all over and could have pulled muscles and possible tie up from this. I would also put both her...

    New Filly ("rescue")

If she is pregnant I would keep her on Omelene 300 because that is for pregnant mares and growing foals. Since she is so young and still growing and pregnant, Omelen 300 would help cover all her nutritional needs. The amount you give her depends on if she is an easy keeper or not. Most of my...

Why are we blind to serious conformation faults?

I would say serious conformational faults are crooked legs, toe out/in, sickle hocked, cow hocked, etc. Bad bites, low poor neck sets, club foot, and many many more. Since I usually only have one stallion at a time, I want him to be as close to perfect as possible. Straight good legs are one...

    New Filly ("rescue")

I am going to say YES she is pregnant. It is really hard to tell when she is due from the pictures but my first guess would be she is around 9 months pregnant. You just have to start checking her every other day for foaling signs and development of the bag. She is very young to be having a foal...

A BIG Pet Peeve of mine

I know how you feel... Though I don't get on fb much right now, I have responded to some ads on Lilb and fb and people don't answer all the questions or they just won't provide more pictures. A head shot picture does not show what the horse is really like! Some people think their horses are...
