I am looking for any information that you might be able to find on two AMHA registered horses. CC Bronco Bobby and Rocky Runs Jimi Sue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Winter Woolies - should they grow back THAT fast?

I too believe that light plays a big part in the winter fuzzies. Seems like once we hit the summer solstice the dog, cats and horses all quit shedding and start adding hair. By the same token they actually start to drop a hair or two beginning at the Winter Solsitice when the days start getting...

    Registration Questions

Do the papers have to make every transfer individually to become valid or can we skip two if the paper work is all there and never completed? Edited to add - there was of course no stallion report submitted regarding the now geldings conception since registration wasn't important at the time...

    Registration Questions

I have to opportunity to purchase three very nice horses, none are trained, none have been shown. The contact was made through a friend of a friend. The hitch is - (I know ya'all are gonna say steer clear) only the mare is registered, and I am not 100% sure in who's name at this point. The...

    ,Electric fence ???Tape or wire?

We put up 1 1/2" electrical tape, white 10 years ago and it is still working great. We live in NW montana and the temps go from -22 in winter to over 100 in the summer, we have lots of snow in the winter and it has still held up great. Not quite as white as it was originally but still white and...

Test Results for ChaCha - My hardkeeper PHOTOS ADDED AT BOTTOM

I have probably missed this somewhere but: Have you checked for lice and ticks (and other similar buggies)? Is she pastured and fed alone or with others (could someone be stealing her feed)? I know how tough it is to have a sick baby and I am wishing you all the luck in the world in getting...

Disinfecting Show Ground Stalls - how thorough are you?

We have always vacinated our horses and made sure all boosters are given before consider showing. We always worm horses regularly and when we return from any show. We have disinfected stalls at some show grounds and have used Nolvassan Disinfectant mixed in a garden sprayer. We make sure all...

Hauling minis in full size trailer

I have hauled two sets of miniatures in a two horse trailer and yes I hauled them loose. As long as there is no stallion involved for a one time use I think this is fine. I have since had my husband build dividers to haul three miniatures comfortably in my two (big) horse trailer since we will...

    New Filly Dwarf????

A Mod is a moderator, someone who keeps watch on the forum. So it was hoped that one was keeping an eye on this thread and make sure that it is relocated for safe keeping to the dwarf forum when it was completed.

question for those of you who switched from horses to minis

We sold our last big horses after getting our first two miniatures. I have to say my back isn't good and my knees questionable. I use a mechanic's rolling stool for clipping and grooming and cleaning feed. I do not trim my own. They are all "stool broke", that is what I call it and it helps a...

    Lice, oh my!

I just went through this ( makes me itch thinking about it too). I wormed with ivermectin and applied lice dust that was 0.25 Pyrethrin. We haven't seen anymore, but, it would be time for the next round of eggs to hatch so we wormed again and dusted again last night at 10 days. I will repeat...

    Need Advice for LICE :(

Update*** Ten days today and no sign of creepy crawlies anywhere. Dusted and wormed all the horses again and will plan to repeat in 10 days. We sure won't be feeding any worms! Other than an occasional rub on the trees but the ones that aren't body clipped (and I am sure that is from shedding)...

    Need Advice for LICE :(

Did a body check today and I don't see any creepy crawleys! Horses all wormed. Brushes clean and bleached. Guess now not much to do by wait till next Tuesday (10 days) and powder again. I will say as a side note, the one horse we found them on has been coming in at night with his tail well...

What, pray tell, is a footmans loop?

Thanks that is what I thought but wasn't absolutely 100% positive. I didn't know this applied to singles.

    Need Advice for LICE :(

Guess I should of said I washed brushes in Nolvassan, then soaked for an hour in pretty strong bleach solution. Dried them all by the woodstove. Set up a seperate bucket for each horse now and until we have this all resolved. No sense taking any chances!

Not a good first year breeding for me ...

So sorry for your losses this season. I hope that all goes well for the mare with the retained placenta. Thoughts and prayers coming your way.

    Need Advice for LICE :(

All horses have been dusted. I will worm them all tonight. (I acually just wormed them less than a month ago) if nothing else I will know that I am not feeding any worms! I just can't beleive we have lice! Like I said and many of you have agreed we have never had them and last horse to be...
