    2021 Time to Drive!

Wow! A lot of great driving times on here! I’ve been away for awhile but I plan to start counting my driving minutes with ya’ll next year! My pony Evie and I will be happy to join. She’s a bit too big to be ‘mini’ at 42” but I’m hoping we will still be welcome!

Walking/Hiking with our minis and ponies - Mile Tracker!

So excited about this thread! I’ve been off the site awhile and I’m glad to be back. I’ll have to start tracking my walks with Coady and Evie. Evie and I have been ground driving so hopefully I can start logging that too!

A sidepull noseband or bitless bridle for minis??

I’ve used regular sidepulls on my big horses and if I ever bought another one, I would get one that was designed like Chimacum’s. If you get the kind with a regular throatlatch, the cheek pieces have a tendency to go into the horses eyes.👀 As Mindy previously said, the lower strap stabilizes the...

    Henry!

I wanted to give an update on Henry...he was sold to a gentleman who just purchased another weanling mini mule. His plans are to drive them as a team when they get older! It was hard to see the little guy go but I’m very happy that he went to a home where he’ll have another long ear to play with. 💚

    Henry!

I’ve been trying to work with him some, but his attitude makes it very hard to do anything with him sometimes. He’s been trying to sneakily bite me if I let my guard down, and I don’t like turning my back to him because he will sometimes charge at me when my back is turned and try to bite. It’s...

    2020 Showing

I finally got to go to my first show of the year! I took Coady. He was...enthusiastic let’s say. We took first in halter (out of 5!) second in showmanship (Out of 2) and 4th (out of 4) in trail. He was actually decent in halter and he squared up nicely for the judge to inspect in showmanship...

    Henry!

Just wanted to post some recent pictures of the little Brillo pad. Today was the first time that he led forward for me! He’s great at backing up...forward was much harder. He picks up his feet like a little champ! After a donkey (that we no longer own...) tried to kill my dog I swore that I...

Possibly Getting a Yearling - What is a safe age to start training for jumping/agility?

Ground poles and obstacles are fine for a yearling, but I agree with Cayuse...you shouldn’t jump a mini until he or she is at least 3. Waiting is hard, but it’s far better in the long run to have a horse with nice sound legs. There are a lot of fun, yearling and two year old safe obstacles to...

    When the horse life hurts...

Thank you all so much for the support (and information chandab!). I appreciate it so much 💜 I have yet to make it through a day without crying, but it’s less and less each day. I go out regularly to put fresh flowers on Envy’s grave. I took the night shift with Ivy last night. She nickers for...

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

Almost forgot to record 25 ground driving minutes for Joey and 15 ground driving minutes for Coady. Tried driving Coady in a halter (different one than I had tried before) with good results. Still shopping for a new driving critter though. Went to see two this past weekend...one was nutty and I...

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

Thank you all for the nice comments about Joey! I love bays and I think he’s a handsome little man! Poor little dude had to put up with being dressed in pink because I was trying Rosie’s halter on him. Hopefully I can drive him again soon.

    When the horse life hurts...

Another pic of Envy’s beautiful face and two of me with little Ivy tonight. The right side of her face is swollen because when Envy went down and started thrashing she accidentally kicked her baby in the face. The vet thinks that her jaw is ok and that the swelling will go down. She’s suckling...

    When the horse life hurts...

My heart is too heavy to even think straight. People talk about having a ‘heart horse’. There was; I still can’t believe that I’m writing about her in the past tense, a precious OTTB mare out at the boarding barn named Envy (her racing name was U Stylin). I had her leased for several months...

    Your Drive Day

Oh my goodness! I hadn’t seen a picture of Cappy yet! Referring back to the discussion of having a soft spot for bays...wow! What a handsome little guy!😍😍😍

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

30 minutes driving Little Joe hitched :D he was such a good little guy today. The shafts are a bit big for him...I’ve got a smaller set from another cart that I’m going to try

    Your Drive Day

So I ground drove Coady this evening. My little dude didn’t look thrilled when I harnessed him, but he quickly got over it and we were having a nice drive. Poor guy...he was doing so well for me, but he’s been a little touchy about his mouth since the accident (the right side of his mouth was...

Does he have posted anywhere the weight of one of the carts? Or approximate weight? Just curious ;)
