Returning to light work after foaling?

That definitely makes sense. Loose cannon is a good reference, I've been calling her a spicy pistol 🤣

Returning to light work after foaling?

She's been a great mom and I'm so thankful. I wasn't sure what to expect given she was a maiden but she has definitely proven to be an absolute blessing!

Returning to light work after foaling?

Agreed, any advice for when ground driving would be safer to begin? I realize I sound anxious, I'm not really, just looking into the future and a riding making a repetitive post haha!

Returning to light work after foaling?

I want to preface that she's a great mom, if Tater whinnies she's calling right back and heading to her. However she doesn't stress much over her. Tater does laps all over the place and out of view when we bring them in and turn them out, I can manhandle her, carry her, etc and Dixie is fine...

Returning to light work after foaling?

My mare had an easy foaling, 3.5 weeks ago. I'm curious when we can start hand walking or some ground driving with just a surcingle? Not looking to hook her to cart or rush her back, would just like to start working towards it bit by bit, but in a safe way. If we need to wait a bit more that's...

Is it possible to get all the loose hair off your shedding mini?

I've been using a sleekez on mine for over a month 😭 she Is only fuzzy over her barrel now, but it feels never ending. The sleekez gets a lot of it though. I tried the air compressor trick. She stood fine it just didn't do much.

    Starting babies right

My mare finally released her hostage on Friday. I'm looking for tips and tricks and all the help in raising a happy well adjusted mini! So far I have been handling her all over her body am/pm. They are stalled at night and turned out when weather permits. She's used to wearing a blanket thanks...

    BOGO BABY IS HERE

It does! I bought the mare, and after the sale I learned she'd been exposed. Got an ultrasound and confirmed I bought one and got one free!

    BOGO BABY IS HERE

She got to go outside the next morning. But it's been raining since the first day.

    BOGO BABY IS HERE

Textbook foaling thank goodness, only a little help needed as baby has a big head in relation to moms vulva. We have a Buckskin Tobiano filly! Mom is momming great, baby is strong and spunky. I am relieved and grateful!

    We are finally getting somewhere!

We have a filly! Born at 22:46 Momma did SO good. Baby is spunky. Took a bit to get the hang of latching but she's got it and they're doing well. I'm so grateful! I'll post more pics in the morning

    We are finally getting somewhere!

WE HAVE BABY MILK! (Breeder friend of APHA and AQHA confirmed, within 24 hours we should have a foal!) I'm so excited and terrified. Especially as I just found out my vet is out of town for a family emergency. Thankfully his wife is here and has experience foaling. Hopefully I won't need it...

    We are finally getting somewhere!

I thought she was in early stages yesterday, got her stall ready with straw and nothing 😂 Tonight we have full udders, some sugaring(which grosses me out thanks to trypophobia) and sweet colostrum according to my taste test volunteer. It went from sour to nothing to sweet this am and pm...

    We are finally getting somewhere!

This afternoon she has been walking with her tail raised, and for a bit there she was laying down and breathing kind of hard, I got the stall ready and then when I came back out she was grazing 🤦‍♀️

    We are finally getting somewhere!

We have even better udders. Slab sides. She's eating like an absolute hog, cleaning up her hay from last night and picking through the leftover hay I reuse as bedding. 🤞 We go soon. I thought it would be fun to have a 4/24/24 foal but I don't think we are that close.

    We are finally getting somewhere!

She has a bigger bag, I did squeeze just a little and got a bit, tried to use pH strips but it's pretty sticky so it wasn't absorbing into the pads well. Meaning it went from looking like a 6.25-6.5 to a minute later looking like a 7.5. instructions stated to dip for one second and read...

    We are finally getting somewhere!

Still pregnant 😭 she's got clear fluid in her udders but they're still up and down with fullness and no real pattern to it. Last night they were fuller than this morning. She's just torturing me at this point!

    We are finally getting somewhere!

Im SO over it 🤣 my husband was complaining about the alarms waking him up, and I said "oh yeah? I'm surprised you can hear them over your snoring!" 😂 He sleeps through 99% of them. So far I've been doing every 2-2.5 hours. I'll probably have to shorten the gaps here soon but not looking forward...

    We are finally getting somewhere!

Pasture bred mare with a surprise BOGO foal. In with stud from 4/16/23 to 6/2/23. Based on her being in visible heat when she went in we are somewhere between 334 days and 361 days depending which cycle she took 😭 She's been low on and off and loose for weeks now, and I've been monitoring the...
