We have been putting our 2, 2 year old stallions out with our 2 yearling stallions and the 12 year old gelding.

So far thing have been going o.k. Until today.

Mainly the 2 little guys hang out together (they always come to each other rescue when one of them is being picked on) The 2 year olds usually run and play together then, one of the older ones tries to run and bite the little ones, and they settle down after a few minutes. We figured that they were just playing or figuring out their pecking order.

I looked out the window and Buckshot (stallion) and James (gelding) were slamming there noses together. I had not seen this before, so I grabbed my camera and head out. Well the stallion turned real quick and started kicking the crap out of James. Then they started running. Then Abby (other stallion) started in also. They got on each side of James and just started atacking. One biting his neck and the other his back leg making him go down. Well, I got a lot of exercise out of this.

The 2 yearlings came running to the barn gate to be let in.

: Then did not want anything to do with this.

I got them in. and went running after James. Usually when I scream at them they quit doing what ever they are doing and at least look at me. Not today. I had to chase them all over to get them off of James and him into the barn.

I really think all of the ladies in the barn are getting to my stallions

The spring hormones are ragging and the boys want to get down to business and are telling James that he is not wanted around here.

James used to rule the pasture when the guys were out.. I guess not anymore.

I am thinking for safety that I need to seperate the older boys.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts on my guys attacking?

It is spring, they are young, hormonal stallions . . . need I say more?

You have it right. Hormones, raging, dumb hormones, turns the nicest stallions into maniacs. Get your older guys out of there for there safety.

Same trouble here, I have two stallions I keep together through the winter.....well hormones are starting to rage and they have been fighting, so they ended up getting separated over the weekend.........Just to nice out here and I guess to many smells in the air...............Too many Horny boys together never get along for very long!LOL

Is James the horse in your avatar? If so I have a look a like that's 16 hands high , also named James!! They'd look really good together as a matching pair! hehe

Thanks for your replies.

I was thinking that is what it was. But always like other people ideas on things.

Equine Lover - Yes that is James. in the Avatar. He is of the stocky kind. But I love him all the same. He is the first mini we got, and is the one that got us hooked on mini's.

I agree- springtime and age!!! It is just that season.

Yes, what's up is SPRING time and the young stallions realizing they're stallions. I hope I will be able to keep DunIT and Destiny w/ a gelding or two as a buddy in the future (not DunIT and Destiny in the same paddock, separate ones with their own gelding(s)), but am not sure that's possible.
