Im new to the miniature horses besides having a blind rescue girl. I am recently the proud new owner of a leopard colt and a buckskin blanket filly that I plan to show halter. The thing is I see the show minis and they are sleek and amazing also um well slender.. my mini girl is fat and fluffy lol I know how to deal with the fluffy but what about the ahem well fat... what is a good feeding program to keep the younger ones in show shape? Thanks in advance

How old are each of your new minis? How big? (Height, and also weight, if you have it). What are they eating now? Hay/Forage? Grain? How much of each? Have you actually laid your hands on them and felt them through all the hair, you might be surprised that she isn't as "fluffy" as you think. Once you've laid your hands on them, what do you feel? Ribs? Backbone? Hips?

I know lots of questions, but all will help us, help you. Minis come in so many different sizes, and feeding (especially amounts) will be different between a 30" mini and a 38" mini, as well as differences between growing youngsters and mature adults.

Fluffy or not, please share pictures of your minis, we love pictures. Best pictures are taken down at their level, when you look down on them the angle makes them appear shorter and squattier than they actually are.

Welcome. And ditto chanda. Also pics are very helpful so we get an idea on there overall body types. Congratulations on your new minis
