That was a great video Brandi, thanks for sharing, I loved the faces Buddy was making when you were scratching him, it was like he was saying ,"not there, ahhh that's it, you've hit the spot".
Oh, it's Reggie then that I adore! Those big beautiful liquid eyes
Is he a steer (like a gelded colt?) or do you do that with cattle if they are kept as pets? Hope you don't mind my asking; I don't know much about them and it's interesting to me
I certainly did not want a bull running around out in the pasture lol. I have heard of two different ways of castrating them. Banding and just cut them off
I chose the banding option. There is a banding tool that stretches a thick rubber band out. You put his testies through and then release slowly. It was a long process for both Buddy and Reggie but it worked. You have to give them a tetanus shot before so that they don't get infected because it basically cuts the circulation off and then eventually they fall off. I could tell that it was quite painful for them and I wish I could have just had the vet remove them. But nobody does that around here. When I asked the diarys and beef producers they said that they just go out and "cut" them off!!!!! There is no way I could do that so I chose the banding. They are both fine now and healed nicely.
