Learned today that there's no law to prevent a convicted felon of being a U.S. Senator. Seems that if 2/3 of the membership don't want a felon to serve they can vote to have him unseated but they actually can serve unless they do. This came about in a broadcast about Sen. Stevens (I think the name is) from Alaska. He's been convicted and is awaiting sentencing but refuses to withdraw from the Senatorial race. His position is that he hasn't actually been convicted yet as he's filing an appeal.
Another bit of political trivia - in Alaska a convicted felon DOES have the right to vote until they are sentenced.
I don't know about anybody else but there definitely seems to be something wrong with this picture.
