The thread of memories of board threads and the impact on us caused me to think of this incident that occurred in the first or second year of the board. I had started to post it as part of my post there, but decided that it was inappropriate, but thought that I would share it on a different post:

One of my most unusual memories was away from the board, but was in meeting one of the early members in person. I was at the Houston Livestock Show and a friend had a visitor there who was a regular at the time on LB and wanted to meet me. I think at the time I was AMHA volunteer executive secretary and on the board. I looked forward to meeting her until she came up to me and her first comment of greeting was, "I have been wanting to meet you to tell you that I don't agree with anything that you post on the board or anything that you stand for." Whoa!!! I was so shocked that I hardly knew what to say. I think that she was finally banned from the board by Mary Lou.

So Sad, why people do not think before speaking.

Ok sorry Tony is it bad that I read that and first response was to laugh?

Some people really just seem to be sure that the world revolves around them and their wants needs and opinions and somehow the rest of us are just here to be in awe of them...

Ok now my question to you Tony is how on earth did you respond to such a rude greeting

I think I just sort of gulped and said something like, "I am really very sorry." I found out later that she was adamantly opposed to anything related to AMHA.

LOL well Tony I suppose that is better then laughing in her face which is probably what I would have done

at least you were polite

So glad we finally got to meet you during our trip to Texas. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion...... but that is no way to start a conversation

If its any consolation I had a wonderful time meeting you years ago at AMHA world show in TX. You were so nice and welcoming and just a pleasure to chat with

Oh nice!! I guess I would have been a bit taken aback too... geez. Sounds like one of those folks that has a steel trap for a head- nothing gets in and nothing gets out, LOL

I am sure many here dont agree with me or my opinions, and I know I sure dont agree with others sometimes, but you always learn from others and just because their opinion is not mine, doesnt make it wrong, or gives a reason to be mean about it. Wow.

To think I felt guilty because you were busy when I introduced myself to you at the Portland AMHA Convention...

I really enjoyed meeting you and everyone who came to Portland that year -- it's so great to get to know the person behind the posts. All I can say is, HER LOSS.

There's one thing about you, Tony.......You are always the GENTLEMAN.......Bless you.
