Do you all remember Faith? I got her from Mrs. Leeper, a wonderful lady, last year. Well this is my beautiful girl when I picked her up that day...

And this her now! Still beautiful!

Thanks for letting me share my girl! Sorry they are so big! I have yet to figure out how to resize.

Is this the one you wanted to show in showmanship? the one with the cleft palette? She looks better but she appears to be a dwarf to me. I would not suggest showing her even in showmanship as that promotes her as a good example of the breed......Please no flames and please dont take offense. She is cute but not something I would want to promote.

Thank you for your opinions. I will not take offense. Thank you for your honesty, and maybe I will not show. It all depends on how things go with me and Faith and Blue.

Well, I sure am NOT an expert but I will respectfully disagree. She is very small and petite but in this pic I don't see dwarf.

Sammy,

Faith looks wonderful.

I knew that you would take excellent care of her and you have proven that.

We both knew that Faith was a special little girl and i truely do believe that it was meant to be, for her to be with you.

I thank you, and your family for taking such good care of her.

I know that she is truely loved.

Deb. Im just going by both pics.... She looks VERY well taken care of. Seems Cindy found her just the right home, I agree with that. I wish I could find someone just like you for all my kids! I really am not trying to offend or hurt anyones feelings and I probably shouldnt have comented other than to say she looks much better. I was just concerned for both of you. I certainly dont want to discourage you from showing!!! Can you show Blue? I could be wrong maybe Cheryl or Dr Pam can correct me.

IMO, Faith is a darling little horse, and I don't see any dwarf characteristics in the second photo. I would be proud to have you both in my 4H club, showing showmanship and halter obstacle.

She doesn't look real dwarfy to me either but you have done a GREAT job with her legs and feet

I think you should just let her mature some more and I bet, come summer, when all that fur falls out you will be pleasantly surprised! She may not win at halter at big shows but she is special just the same! True love means so much more than some blue ribbons

See there.... its ok now I will stand corrected and defer to Dr Pam.

I was not offended by your comments. I appreciate your honesty.

I do not want this thread to turn into a debate on whether Faith is a dwarf or not. If by chance she is a dwarf, I'll love her just the same. If she is not, I'll love her too.

I just wanted people to see how she looks a year after I got her! I've been working hard to make sure she is comfortable and happy and I'd like to think it shows!

Thank you everyone.

I too am only going off the photo, and I understand she is a "special needs" mini, but not a dwarf.

Sammy it is VERY obvious that you did a great job and it paid off! You are a fabulous mini mom!

I just want to say that that little horse made me smile! What a precious little face! Sorry if this is a redundant question, but what is her story? She looks part yak in that first photo - I can't get over the length of her coat! Too cute for words

We'll my 2 cents worth is that she is a doll and you have changed the apperance on this little filly by so much.. I think you could show her showmanship in a wonderful 4-H program.. sure wish we had one around here for our kids! You should be a very proud momma of this little gal

No, Faith is not a dwarf. But she does have special needs.

The first picture was taken when it was quite cold.

And because of her special needs, maybe it was natures way to over compensate on her coat. Because she definatley was a fuzzy little girl

there really is a story on this sweet little horse and it is truely a miracle that she is

doing this well,

I can't wait to see her next summer

thanks Sam

Faith was born with Cleft Palate. That means the soft and hard palate did not fuse together when she was in her mother's womb. So she has a hole in the back of her mouth. Mrs. Leeper, of Valley View Farms was her breeder. Mrs. Leeper kept me posted about her condition, ever since I showed a interest in this little bay filly. That went on for many months, and we watched and waited. Finally, Faith was weaned and eating all her food and drinking water. Mrs. Leeper asked me if I wanted to give her a home and after talking it over with my family and Blue, my other mini, I decided I could take care of her and give her a good home. The first days were hard on Blue. He was jealous of this little filly! But as time went on, they got used to each other and now they have an unbreakable bond, with each other and with me. I love those two horses, and they will always have a home with me. Faith's future is still cloudy because she can get ill very easily. But I will make her happy and comfortable until she decides she needs to leave, and then when that time comes, years from now I hope, I'll let her go over the Rainbow Bridge with all the love I can give.

Sammy....you are an awesome person! As I said I can only hope for such a person for the horses that I sell.

Wow Sammy!

Has it really been a year since you got her?

I remember the days when you talked about getting her!

Keep up the good work and Faith looks AMAZING! Absolutely incredible.

Now, where are the pics of your other cutie Blue? Haven't seen him in a while! How are the appy characteristics coming along?

She looks tremendously improved. IME, a longer hair coat can be the result of malnutrition, even slight.

It's just that the thinner horses tend to grow longer coats, not sure why, but I've seen it a lot. Not pointing fingers or anything as I am sure it is a real challenge to feed her w/her disability.

Anyway, she is really looking better and I hope she continues to do well for you.

Thanks for sharing!

Liz M.

She looks great!
