COOL!

Except for the fun colors, we would call that a "potato bug". It's actually a pest to us who grow vegie gardens, but he's got a neat design on him!

Your bug has the characteristic shape of a "stink bug" although I have never seen one this colorful. Most of the stink bugs around here are an ugly brown color.

Green and Red Stink Bug - Banasa dimiata

Think this is it???
Thank you. Stink bug was what I was thinking when I saw the picture, but couldn't think of that name.

This is what we call Potato Bugs.

The first time I saw one it scared me half to death! I thought it was a giant termite.

I had the termite inspector out and he tried really hard not to laugh when he asked "You didn't grow up out here, did you?" No, I didn't. That's when I learned that it wasn't a termite. Whew!

We call them potato bugs too. Jerusalem bugs related to crickets actually...and yes the first time I saw one was when I was little living in CA. Used to pick them up, but now....I'd run for the hills if I saw one!! The bug Reble posted looks like our stink bugs....we have them all colors here but mostly a yucky brown...the females have red on them. The stink is nasty.

Sow bugs are the ones that roll up in a ball whose shell is in sections- also known as pill bugs. (cant post a pic here at work dang it.) We always called those icky little brown beetles potato bugs. I agree, this one has some fun colors and lovely 'painted' pattern!

We call them stink bugs, too. I like the green and red ones.
