Wondering if anyone here has seen the Cavalia Horse performance show? It's coming to Houston end of January. Tickets are very expensive, about $80.00 each.

I just went and saw the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria last Sunday. It was magnificent. I had never seen the Lippazaner Horses before.

I saw their web site but not a lot of information on it.

So wondered if the Cavalia Horse Show would be something not to be missed also?

thanks!

I went and saw this when it originally started in Toronto....was that last year...or 2 years ago....

Anyways, if you liked the Lippizaners, go see Cavalia!!!! It was awesome!! Do you know of Cirque du Soliel?? It is a Montreal based group that performs amazing acrobats and that kind of stuff....it is awesome to watch.... Well Cavalia was developed by a couple of Cirque people....so it's acrobatics and horse stuff....it truly was amazing to watch....the dressage part of it was a little weak....but the rest of the stuff....awesome!!!

I saw it and did enjoy it.

I think I have become to horsey though. I noticed that instead of sitting back and just enjoying the performance, I was doing things like, picking out what was wrong with this horse or that that one seemed to be limping. I haven't figured out how to turn that part of my brain off, and the more I learn, the more I pick things apart.

Do go and sit back and just enjoy it. The performances are very well done.

I have seen Cavalia three times... and it is much more entertaining than the Lippizzaners... the music is amazing - and is done live.

The best part - is the the musicians must cue to the horses...as the horses will not do things the same way every night... or they may decide to goof around a bit - as the young buckskin Lusitano stallion did at one performance. One section is done to classical guitar - and the horses really kept the guitarist busy - he was doing a lot of improvising!

It is a DO NOT MISS... and better still - take someone non-horsey. My friend Leslie is as far removed from the barn as you can get... and during a pas de deux I peeked at her and she had tears in her eyes - she found it so beautiful.

I also think the fancy package (whatever it is called - more $$$) is worth it.

Drinks and hors d'oeuvres and programs in the tent ahead of time. More goodies at intermission. And afterwards you get to tour the barn and see the horses close up - and talk to the performers/trainers... *happy sigh*
