chewing tails

I've notice the past few days that there's little bald spots of both sides of my gelding MacDuff's tail. right at the top. I though it might be from worms, but we're up to date on that. THEN, I noticed that his butt was also covered in little white hairs.... RHINO!!!!(How I love sheding season, helps in the detection of wrong doings)

I'm thinking Rhin's taking little nips out of the tail, and am wondering if there's anything I can put on the tail that tastes yucky as to detear Rhino from making a meal of any more of my guys tail? I did try to search for the answer, cuz I could have swore I read something about this a while ago, but no luck.

Blue Palmolive dish soap helps. It is safe on the horses tail and won't harm the one trying to eat it. For some reason it has to be the blue stuff.

I've always sprayed tails with RapLast, it works very well. Just make sure you are standing upwind.

Its a really strong yucky pepper type spray that gets sprayed on bandages of race horses and hunter jumpers who wont leave their bandages on.

Make sure you put gloves on when you use it and stand up wind like the others said. As if it gets in your eyes you need to wash them thoroughly out for at least 2 minutes and dont try and drive.
