Oh my god I am ready to throw my Double K clippers in the trash! I have had more issues with these than my $100 clippers from Fleet Farm! Okay moving on. . . When the clippers doesn't hold the blade in place, it slips back and the smaller piece of the blade doesn't move, is that a problem with the leaver?

Try pushing down on top of the blades. Occasionally they don't click into place. But to answer your question, yes that would be a problem with the lever. I have this problem every once in a while, and I push down on the blades and they click into place and start working. I love my double k's. I bought them used off ebay.

I push them down, then as soon as I start clipping it makes a different kind of whirring noise and the smaller bade stops moving. I just bought these clippers this year!!!

Check the screws that hold the lever in. I replaced my lever and now sometimes the screws loosen up.

I am not sure what you're describing. Double K's are by far the best clippers I've ever used, also the techs I ask say they are the strongest though yeah, they are cumbersome, the motor makes them the strongest ones....

so I ask are you sure you're getting the blades to lock in properly?

Another thing that a service tech told me is NOT to clamp them down when the motor is running, rather to click them into place when it's off and then when you turn them on very slowly, apply gentle pressure and the lever will find its proper seat. If you clamp them down when it's running fast, it will eventually bend the blade clips outward and make your blades track even when they are sharpened.

There should be a positive "click" as they lock into place and there's no amount of slop (ideally). Not sure how long you've had them, but the lever is easy to change out and it usually needs replacing after about ten or fifteen horse clips, IME.

If you can show pictures of what you're having trouble with, it might help. Many showers and breeders have been using these a long time and might be able to help in person if you're near someone. I doubt they're worthy of the trash, though if you're tossing 'em out, I'll take them, I could use a second set! *LOL*

I also love my Double K's. The levers are not expense at all (something like 40 cents each?) You can reach the manufacturers directly, and I'm sure they can help you out. If you describe the problem to them over the phone, they probably could tell you what the problem is:

Make sure the blade hook is not broken off. It's a small black piece that fits under the blade holder and is part of the blade release that you push to remove the blade. It sticks up right under the lever and has a small hook that catches the blade and holds it in place.

It sounds like to me it is the black lever in the back. The top wears off and does not hold the blade.

It is a $3 part from Star Lake.

I'm not much in the know but I do have some new Double K's I bought this past Spring and they are way better than my Andis AGC (ACG?) Super 2 clippers. Mine came with a replacement lever the others are talking about so it's my bet they do wear out or break easily. These Double K's cut through fithly winter coats like they were going through butter.

Well I (thankfully) found an extra leaver, changed it and checked and tightened everything. Well it works now. Sorry, I was in a bit of panic this morning, I as of then, still had 3 horses to clip before the show this weekend. I do actually love my double K's, just panic speaking.

Glad to hear they're working :aktion033: I love my set as well. I've only had them serviced once in 14years :new_shocked: You can also purchase "felts" they are tiny little felt pads that go inside below(I believe) the lever. Alot of times the hole where the lever connects will "waller" out or the tip will round, making slop in the connection. Good luck with the rest of your horses and good luck at the show :saludando:
