Does anyone on here use their bigger dogs to pull a wagon or cart? My cousin has a larger dog she'd like to train to do this and I'm trying to find info on it....and a harness. Any suggestions or help?

Thanks!

This is a "dog works" cart that I got off Craig's List. ( www.dogworks.com ) Skagit adores working, so finds this very fun. You can see by the smile on his face, and the tail in motion!!

Cool! That's a very neat cart too. I drew my cousin's name for gift exchange and she wants to train her dog to pull her. He's a heeler/pit cross about 65#s now. I found a harness at Cabela's for around $45.

Do you train them like a horse or do they take to it naturally?

There are dog carting groups on the web. Skagit just loves it, but would sure never qualify for some of the trials. They are supposed to back up and do courses similar to what the minis do. We just do it for fun...like I said, thanks to Craig's List! (I was able to get the cart and the harness for $100.) Several of the folks on the carting forum have made their own carts; there are some who even cart yorkies and the such.
