Has anyone competed, or seen anyone compete at an AMHA show with a multiple hitch in driven obstacle?

So I'm going to bump this up. I kind of figured that someone has driven a team in an AMHA obstacle class, however maybe I AM the first. Input anyone?????

I'm interested in seeing what responses you get to this thread. I have never seen a multiple hitch doing obstacle but would love to hear about the experience of those who have.

Can you get your answer directly from the show committee at the AMHR and AMHA offices? That would be easier in case the owners of any multiples aren't members of this forum.

I know that you'r talking about "HORSE " shows but I saw a team of mini donkeys at the columbia tn mule days mini show a few years ago in the obsticle class and they did well. Only thing is they were slower than the single hitches.

I'm talking about "driven obstacle" not cones courses at the speed events. Driven obstacle is like a ridden trail course only driven. Speed is not a factor, just acuracy and quiet horses.

Obstacles include back throughs, back intos, wheel pivots in hula hoops or on discs, running a wheel between two pole spaced inches apart, running a wheel up on a plank, crossing a tarp, crossing a bridge, etc.

I was just curious to see if anyone else has atyempted this at the AMHA shows or if I'm blazing a nee trail.

I was assuming since it was in the rule book, others have done it before me, however, maybe not.

I have even contacted AMHA and they do not have an answer for me.

I have been driving AMHA for 20 years in obstacle and multi hitch. I have thought about what you ask but have never done it or seen it done. It is in the rule book that you can do it after all the singles have gone and the course adjusted. I have no idea what "adjusted" means. I am pretty good with multi's but I am not going to try it. What I would like to see is multi hitch classes with real tests rather than just a figure 8 and rein back. Maybe some pylons and swings to show real driving skills. Alas, when AMHA compressed the multi hitch classes I quit doing it. Too much trouble and $$ for too little return. I used to do pair/tandem, four in hand and antique vehicle.

Thank you for the reply Al. That is the info I've been looking for. I qualified a pair for driven obstacle for this year's Worlds. Unfortunately my World account has been drained (along with some of my savings) by a lot of unexpected expenses, and a trip to Denver that was a family emergency. So I do not think I will get to go. I just wanted to do it one time to show it could be done with a multiple hitch and possibly encourage others to do it too. I had so much fun showing my pair at our two shows here in March. I did get a few interesting looks doing it, but I'm in this circus for the fun and for showing off, not being just like everyone else.

Heres a photo of my team doing the back into at the second show of the weeknd. This was the dark horse's second trip through an obstacle class, the first being a couple days before. I had so much fun doing this class and would really love to do this class with my hitch wagon. I've never been one to do things the easy way!2014-03-22 09.54.19.jpg2014-03-22 09.55.27.jpg
