Fall Farm Fun Day!

For the past 4 years Makayla and I have volunteered at the Hilton-Winn Youth Enrichment Center in Cape Neddick, ME. The goal of the Youth Enrichment Center at Hilton-Winn Farm is to provide a country farm experience that enriches the hearts, minds and spirits of children.

Today was the annual Fall Farm Fun Day. We had absolutely gorgeous weather for it and therefore it was our biggest turnout thus far. Hundreds of people showed up. Most of which have never been on a farm (it was so obvious in the way they dressed :^). We really enjoyed watching the joy and happiness our two minis and three goats gave those that came. We chuckled at the comments and expressions. But most of all, we were very proud of Bozley, Belle, Nicco, Atilla and Riley. They were simply awesome!

Sue, you and Makayla are AWESOME!!!! How nice of you two to put a smile on faces of the children!!! I would love to do that kind of thing! This is my first year with minis, perhaps I'll find something around here too!

Can't wait for tomorrow, we'll see you two at NbarH!!!!!!

What a wonderful thing to do for the children. I'm sure the animals had a great time also. An experience the children will never forget.

It was fun. But I cannot tell you how many kids thought Belle (being black & white) was a cow and the goats were sheep. Belle is Makayla's love of her life and she was getting so upset that kids were calling her a cow. I would just smirk and turn my head. I knew laughing out loud would have been a VERY big mistake.

Poor Belle, being called a cow. It's ok, I think she's gorgeous!

Hope you all have fun at the NbarH show today, I couldn't make it so hopefully you'll all take pictures! Joyce always takes some really nice ones of everyone.

Rebecca,

We missed you today at NBARH. We are so use to you being there with your "girls". We had an awesome time. The weather was perfect. The show was so laid back and very relaxing.

The liberty class had big and little horses in it. Belle did the best she has ever done. She had a nice floaty trot with her tail straight up. She looked gorgeous! She ended up winning the class so Makayla was very pleased. Belle also did very well in "Knock Down & Out". The jump got up to 3 feet, higher then most of the minis that were there, and she soared over it. Makayla was very proud of her Miss Belle.

Rhett was funny. Makayla & Courtney took him in Liberty and he tore around for a little while and then decided he was done. He stood there and wouldn't budge. No matter what the girls did including shaking the lunge whips, bags etc he wouldn't move. He just stood there and said "I am not moving". He was very funny and had everyone laughing. He was probably the fastest catch there.

I took Rhett in a lot of running classes and I thought I was going to die!!! But our best class was the Coke Race. Rhett and I went against Makayla and Belle, as well as the other "children" (I was the only adult making a fool of myself). Makayla's last words were "Mom, you are going down!". Well she ate those words! I ran down with Rhett, drank that soda so fast and ran back. But I learned very quickly it isn't easy to run with a mouth full of soda and try to gasp for air at the same time. Soon I was choking as I was running with soda coming out of my nose and mouth!!!! But that didn't stop me. I kept on going! Rhett and I beat Makayla!!! Of course, she was on the ground rolling in laughter at me, but I still won!

The high light of the day was hanging out with Linda, Courtney, Shelly, Joyce. Lois, Matt and others. We have met the nicest mini people through Lilbeginnings, NBARH & MMHC. Sad to see the show season end, but there is always next year!!!
