Here is the filly, she is in good wt for her gestational age...no abnormalities except that there is a black area of infarct on the placenta probably due to Fancys illness where it was separating since the weekend. I felt this filly moving yesterday. This was a very fast delivery for which Im thankful, usually when there is a fetal demise the foal presentation can be difficult. This baby cam in the normal fashion. Baby, sack and placenta came together all at once.
Her CBC results came back unremarkable.... the vets from Blueridge said in order to save fancy we would have had to abort the foal anyway to give her the best chance... God took care ofthat for us..... that would have been a very hard decision for me to make.... Fancy is up, resp are more normal.....still elevated some. Vet will come out to see her and examine the baby for any abnormalities that I missed.... We are thinking more in terms of salmonella and are rearanging her meds yet again...we are in the dunk your feet in the clorox water mode and Im watching everyone else like a hawk.... we dont have any chickens here but we are in the woods with lots of turkey buzzards..... who knows... Im hopeful that fancy is on her feet and has drank 1/2 a bucket of water....still not interested in concentrates but is picking at the hay. She is back on stall only till we can get this projectile diarrhea over. They will fax me the Chem profile today and I will share that with you as well..... THe vets in Virginia say that the minis are very different equine and they are absolutely right. Any and all data that we can accumulate they find very helpful. Denise believes that the elevated LFTs were related to her strugling to maintain her pregnancy and her own body and it just wasnt possible. For those interested ....the ring test was right. Im wondering if Fancys system and whenever she has a filly foal the elevated estrogen in her body adversely affects her. Her first foal was a filly that we lost to joint ill that was pre-existing before her birth.... last year she had Lucky without problems and this time , another filly with a placental infarct...... I dont think I will breed her ever again.
AW!!! That really hurts my heart Lyn. I'm so sorry Fancy is so sick and that she lost the filly. I know you are heart sick with worry. My prayers go out to her and to you. {{{Hugs}}}
Oh Lyn I am so very sorry for the loss of your filly. I hadn't known that Fancy was ill either, missed that somehow. I sure do hope that she will be able to recover now, poor thing. Good luck, I will be praying for her.
