Ok, quick background, Dolly is my coming 2-year old cremello mini, last time she was trimmed she threw a royal hissy fit and threw herself on the ground; so we kept her down and trimmed her, as it was easier than fighting her the whole time and causing more problems. [Then, I filed her a couple weeks later, and she was just fine for me.]

Well, today, it was Dolly's turn again, and I kind of expected her to throw another fit, but here's what really happened... Caught her, brought her into the barn aisle, she's standing close to the back wall and farrier started trimming her left front, she starts leaning towards the wall, pretty soon she's sliding down the wall til she's laying down and then she just laid there and didn't move til he was done trimming her. [i did kind of hold her down, but no pressure, as honestly, she didn't move til he was done and walked away. Then she jumped up and was ready to go.] Silly horse.

So she is now trained to lie down for hoof trimming. LOL

I had one that did this for the first year of his life. It is just this summer that he started standing for his hoof trimming. Since I do the trimming myself, I accept whatever is most comfortable for the horse, including lying out flat.
