I am considering taking both of my horses to a fair to be shown at their miniature show. They have to be stabled at the fair to be allowed to be shown there, and have to be there for 5 days. They would haul in the 30th in the early afternoon, show the 1st, and be released the 3rd.
In the past with the minis I had always just fed normally, hay and grain, morning and night, and ulcergard once a day. When I used to show the big horses we would break up their daily amount of hay in multiple smaller meals throughout the day, however we never worried about feeding them too much hay before a show either. It kept them occupied, and made me worry less about ulcers.
With the minis I cant throw a flake of hay every 2 hours or they would be as big as a house, but have you ever taken their entire daily ration of hay, and split it up throughout the day into smaller portions to be fed throughout the day instead of a larger amount at breakfast and dinner?
Did they act like they were being starved when they didn't get as much hay at one meal?
Do you think this would be beneficial to the horses?
