My mare, Silver, finally got around to giving us our first foal of 2006. I was VERY stressed as last year she had all kinds of problems and we lost the foal. This year, she squirted that baby out like greased lightening!!! :aktion033: The berry fairy struck, and we have a bouncing baby boy born about 2 hours ago. So far this mare has given us all boys so this wasn't really a surprise. He is a toss up between a dark slate grey, and a dark chocolate brown. At this point he has a pretty visible dorsal stripe and his legs and underbelly are silver. You know how babies are, it is hard to tell what he will end up being for color. Mom is a silver dapple and dad was born black, but has the greying gene and is almost completely white by now. He is a frisky fella and after taking care of lifes necessities, (a nip at the jug, a pee and a poo) he immediately started trying to scamp around. :bgrin I'm so in love

: He has nuzzled all over my face and mom enjoyed a good belly rub. It is cold so he is wearing a sweatshirt. I rushed to put him in the new blanket I proudly bought, but even though it looked tiny when I got it, it is so big he couldn't possible wear it! I tried to post our pics but I can't seem to figure it out

: Maybe it is just from staying up the last 2 nights on mare stare, but if someone could walk me through it in simple, one syllibal words, written in crayon, I MIGHT be able to figure it out!

Heaven touched our farm tonight and it sparkled. Best wishes everyone, and I'm off to bed!

Congratulations on your new colt. So happy all went well, now go get some much needed rest. Looking forward to pictures.

Congratulations. Good things come to those who wait, as your mare proved over the last couple days!

Congratulations- really good news, at last.

If the colt is Silver, and he sounds as if he is/might be, and also carried the Greying gene he would most likely have been born Grey almost white, when the carry both genes as, for example Egyptian King and Little Blue Boy, they seem to go snow white very quickly.

Whatever colour, he is here and he is healthy, that is all that matters, well done both of you, you can now get some well earned rest!!!

Oh I loved your story and he sounds wonderful! Congratulations. :aktion033:

I am jealous. I have been waiting for a week now and still no baby. She is bagged up. Her flanks are full. Her tail has no strength in it. Maybe I will get lucky soon.
